Jacob deGrom Over 6.5 Strikeouts (-122)

Rangers vs. Mariners, 4:11 p.m. ET

Jacob deGrom still has some of the best stuff in the game, and he draws a lovely matchup today against the Seattle Mariners at pitcher-friendly T-Mobile Park.

Seattle’s offense struggles at home as they own the fourth-highest home K rate (24.0%) with the third-worst home wOBA (.301).

deGrom can take advantage. He’s produced a 29.9% strikeout rate and 16.2% swinging-strike rate this season. He’s notched at least seven punchouts in three of his past four starts, and while he hasn’t been as good on the road this year as he’s been at home, this is the best road venue he can ask for.

Home Run Prediction: Ben Rice (+260)

Rockies at Yankees, 7:06 p.m. ET

Ryan Feltner will be on the bump for the Colorado Rockies, and that’s good news for the New York Yankees‘ hitters.

On the season, Feltner has struggled to a 4.80 SIERA and 16.9% K rate while permitting 1.60 homers per nine. It’s hard to envision him finding much success tonight in the Bronx against a Yankees lineup that is getting healthier.

Ben Rice rakes versus RHPs, slugging his way to a .393 wOBA, 44.4% hard-hit rate and 42.7% fly-ball rate in the split. He’s swinging it well right now, posting a .383 wOBA across his previous 49 plate appearances, and once Feltner is out of the game, Rice will see a Colorado bullpen that ranks fifth-worst in xFIP this year.

As an added bonus, the wind is blowing out to right at 8 MPH.

Pirates vs. White Sox NRFI (-148)

Pirates at White Sox, 7:40 p.m. ET

This one became a lot more appealing once the Chicago White Sox's pitching plans were clarified. The pitching probables are left-hander Hagen Smith opposite Jared Jones.

Smith has been electric in a relief role since reaching the majors. Through his first 16 innings, he's allowed just one earned run, good for a 0.56 ERA, while recording 23 strikeouts and surrendering only a .096 batting average. His strikeout rate sits at a massive 37.1%.

There is some risk with Smith because his 16.1% walk rate is extremely high, but the Pittsburgh Pirates aren’t exactly the kind of matchup that scares me away from an NRFI.

Jones is a little less dominant from a run-prevention standpoint, posting a 4.46 ERA over 78 2/3 innings, but his strikeout ability gives him significant upside in this market. He's fanned 27.6% of hitters with an 8.4% walk rate, and his 13.9% swinging-strike rate shows how difficult his arsenal can be to square up.

Neither starter is completely risk-free, but the swing-and-miss potential on both sides makes Pirates-White Sox an appealing night-game NRFI.
