Thunder vs. Spurs: NBA Prediction, Picks and Prop Bets (Opening Night)

Thunder vs. Spurs Top Bets at a Glance
- Thunder-Spurs Under 231.5 (-114)
- Devin Vassell 3+ Made Threes (+142)
Tuesday's NBA slate closes with a marquee Western Conference matchup between the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs.
The matchup features two of the league's premier young stars in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Victor Wembanyama, along with two teams that expect to contend deep into the postseason. Oklahoma City's elite two-way profile will be tested by a San Antonio team that continues to build around Wembanyama's rare combination of scoring and rim protection.
With plenty of star power and several appealing markets on the board, let's dive into the best bets and player props for Thunder-Spurs.

Knicks vs. 76ers Picks, Props and Prediction
Thunder-Spurs Under 231.5 (-114)
Total Points
The final game of tonight features two loaded Western Conference teams, but the defensive talent on both sides makes the under appealing at 231.5.
The Oklahoma City Thunder finished with the NBA's No. 1 defense for the second consecutive season in 2025-26, while Victor Wembanyama won Defensive Player of the Year for the San Antonio Spurs. Wembanyama and OKC’s Chet Holmgren actually finished first and second, respectively, in DPOY voting.
That defense was on display when these teams met last season. Oklahoma City averaged only 109.2 points across five regular-season games against San Antonio while shooting 44.8% from the field and 33.0% from three.
The five meetings finished with combined point totals of 220, 240, 219, 217, and 222. That gives us an average of 223.6 points, with four of the five contests finishing below Tuesday's 231.5-point line.
Both teams obviously possess enough offensive firepower to turn this into a shootout, and OKC’s defense may take a step back sans Luguentz Dort. But this is a sizable number for a matchup featuring two potentially elite defenses. With Wembanyama protecting the rim for San Antonio and OKC's defense capable of making life difficult at every level, I'll side with under 231.5 points.
Devin Vassell 3+ Made Threes (+142)
Devin Vassell to knock down at least three triples is my favorite plus-money prop on Tuesday's slate.
Vassell averaged 2.5 made threes on 6.4 attempts per game last season while connecting at a strong 38.4% clip from beyond the arc. He finished with 166 made threes across 67 games.
There is also precedent for Vassell getting plenty of perimeter opportunities in this matchup. He attempted at least five threes in each of his four regular-season meetings with the Thunder last year, including games with eight and nine attempts. Vassell made three triples in one of those meetings and four in another.
In the postseason, Vassell hoisted at least six three-point tries in six of seven games versus OKC, including outings of 9, 12 and 9 three-point tries.
OKC's defense is obviously a difficult draw. But Dort is gone, and the Thunder have ranked in the top six in highest three-point attempt rate allowed in each of the last three seasons, highlighting a defensive system that prefers to lock down the paint at the cost of giving up some three-point looks.
With Vassell coming off a season in which nearly 57% of his field-goal attempts came from three-point range, the volume gives us a realistic path to three makes.

NBA Betting Frequently Asked Questions
What is the point spread in NBA betting?
The point spread is a handicap applied to the favored team to level the playing field. For example, if the Lakers are -6.5 against the Celtics, the Lakers must win by 7 or more points for a bet on them to pay out. A bet on the Celtics wins if Boston wins outright or loses by 6 points or fewer.
What does the moneyline mean in NBA betting?
A moneyline bet is a straight-up wager on which team wins — no spread involved. Odds use American format: a favorite is listed with a minus sign (e.g., -180), meaning a wager of $180 would win $100. An underdog carries a plus sign (e.g., +155), meaning a $100 bet would return $155 profit.
What is an over/under (total) bet in the NBA?
FanDuel will set a projected combined score for both teams. You bet whether the actual total points will go Over or Under that number. For example, if the total is 224.5, an Over bet wins if both teams combine for 225 or more points.
What are NBA player props?
Player prop bets focus on individual statistical performances rather than game outcomes. Common NBA props include points scored, rebounds, assists, three-pointers made, steals, and combined stat lines (e.g., Points + Rebounds + Assists). You bet whether the player goes Over or Under the sportsbook's posted line.
