Miami vs Florida Picks and Predictions

Florida -5.5 (-115)

The Florida Gators are my favorite side in this matchup with the Miami Hurricanes.

Florida enters the season ranked No. 1 in the country and returns an impressive amount of frontcourt talent, including Thomas Haugh and Alex Condon. The Gators also went 16-2 in SEC play last season and were the only SEC team with a winning record against AP-ranked opponents.

Miami is ranked No. 14 nationally and has plenty of talent of its own, but Florida's size should be difficult to overcome. Haugh averaged 17.1 points per game last season after averaging just 9.8 as a sophomore while Condon is another matchup problem on the interior.

Florida did lose its exhibition opener to Baylor, 82-76 in overtime, but the Gators responded by beating Stetson 85-68. Miami, meanwhile, beat Vanderbilt 109-96 in its lone exhibition.

I expect this to be a good game, but Florida's experience and frontcourt advantage should allow the No. 1 team in the country to win by at least six points.
