Wide Receivers to Buy Low in Fantasy Football

Ladd McConkey, Los Angeles Chargers

Ladd McConkey's season has gotten off to a frustrating start, and his Week 4 goose egg could make this the lowest his trade value gets.

McConkey has caught 12 of 17 targets for 183 yards and one touchdown through four games. That works out to just 45.8 receiving yards and 9.1 PPR fantasy points per game. He was especially disappointing in Week 4, failing to catch either of his two targets before leaving with a foot injury.

There is obviously some risk here because of the injury, so fantasy managers need to monitor McConkey's status. However, that uncertainty is also precisely why he could be available at a substantial discount.

We've already seen his upside this year. McConkey caught five passes for 82 yards and a touchdown in Week 1, and he followed that with four catches for 66 yards in Week 3.

If his foot issue proves to be relatively minor, I'd rather buy McConkey after a zero-point outing than wait for him to get healthy and post another strong game. The Los Angeles Chargers still have Justin Herbert at quarterback, and McConkey has enough established receiving talent to outperform his current WR-level production over the remainder of the season.

Jameson Williams, Detroit Lions

Jameson Williams finally showed some life in Week 4, but his overall season still hasn't done much to inflate his trade value.

Williams has caught 16 of 25 targets for 229 yards through four games, averaging 57.3 receiving yards per contest. Most importantly, he has yet to score a touchdown despite playing more than 90% of the Detroit Lions‘ offensive snaps and accounting for 29.3% of the Lions' air yards.

That combination is appealing.

Williams' first three games produced receiving lines of 4-45-0, 2-33-0, and 4-49-0. He finally broke through for six catches and 102 yards in Week 4, although he once again failed to reach the end zone.

The touchdown drought stands out because Williams has historically been a big-play threat. He's averaging 14.3 yards per reception this season, and Detroit continues to keep him on the field for virtually every passing situation.

I'd be interested in acquiring Williams now before one of those 100-yard outings comes with a long touchdown attached, something that could occur this coming week versus the Arizona Cardinals.

Justin Jefferson, Minnesota Vikings

Justin Jefferson is in exactly the kind of situation in which it's worth checking on an elite player's trade cost.

Jefferson has caught 13 passes for 179 yards and two touchdowns through three appearances this season. Nearly half of his fantasy production came in Week 1, when he recorded eight catches for 92 yards and two scores. Since then, he has totaled just five catches for 87 yards across two games.

He missed Week 4 with an ankle injury and exited early in Week 3, which could leave a frustrated fantasy manager staring at three consecutive weeks without a big Jefferson performance.

That's the window to explore.

Despite the modest counting stats, Jefferson has still commanded a 26% target share and 37% air-yard share when active this season. His talent obviously isn't in question, either. He entered 2026 having produced four career seasons with at least 1,400 receiving yards.

The Minnesota Vikings' passing environment hasn't been ideal, and his ankle adds another layer of risk. But if the Jefferson manager is worried about both factors, this might be one of the rare opportunities to acquire a legitimate difference-maker.

Fantasy Football Buy-Low Wide Receivers FAQ

What does buy low mean in fantasy football?

Buying low means trading for a player whose current perceived value is lower than what you expect his value to be going forward. A slow start, tough matchup, injury, or lack of touchdowns can sometimes create a buying opportunity.

What should you look for in a buy-low wide receiver?

Target volume, route participation, air yards, red-zone usage, and snap rate are all important. A receiver can be underperforming in fantasy while still seeing the type of usage that suggests better production is coming.

When is the best time to trade for a buy-low wide receiver?

The best opportunities often come after one or two disappointing games, especially if the player's role has remained strong. Fantasy managers can sometimes overreact to short-term results even when the underlying usage is encouraging.

Should you buy low on an injured wide receiver?

It can make sense if the injury is considered short-term and the player's price has dropped significantly. Before making a trade, consider the expected return timeline and whether you have enough depth to wait for him to get healthy.
