College Football Picks and Predictions

Under 55.5 Points (-102)

Miami at Wake Forest, 7:30 p.m. ET

The Miami (FL) Hurricanes have been spectacular offensively, scoring 45 points at Stanford before exploding for 77 against Florida A&M. Darian Mensah has been highly efficient, but this is a step up in competition against a Wake Forest Demon Deacons team that should provide more resistance.

The key for the under is that Miami's first two games came against opponents it could overwhelm with superior talent, while Wake has shown it can stay competitive against a Power 4 opponent. Purdue gained 455 total yards against Wake, but the Demon Deacons also generated enough offense to keep that game from becoming a runaway.

With the total at 55.5, I like the under because I think Wake Forest has the ability to slow Miami down just enough.

Houston +7.5 (-110)

Houston at Texas Tech, 8 p.m. ET

The Texas Tech Red Raiders are 2-0, but they haven't been dominant enough defensively for me to justify laying a touchdown-plus against an unbeaten Houston Cougars team.

Texas Tech just allowed Oregon State to pile up 472 total yards and 417 passing yards in a 35-24 win while Houston has already shown it can move the ball efficiently behind Conner Weigman.

The Cougars have also been much more competitive against Power 4 competition than their Week 2 blowout of Southern might suggest. Weigman threw for 305 yards against Oregon State in Houston's opener, and the Cougars enter this one 2-0.

At +7.5, Houston gives us some cushion in what should be a competitive game.

Oregon -56.5 (-120)

Portland State at Oregon, 10:30 p.m. ET

The Oregon Ducks are coming off a disappointing 39-31 loss at Oklahoma State, so there should be plenty of motivation for the Ducks to put together a strong performance at home.

The matchup is obviously a favorable one.

Portland State is 0-3 and has allowed 43.7 points per game while giving up 5.7 yards per rush and 8.8 yards per pass attempt. They’re in a lot of trouble.

The Ducks have already shown explosive potential this season, piling up 497 total yards against Boise State in Week 1, including 378 passing yards. Portland State has allowed 357, 375 and 627 total yards in its first three games, so Oregon should have little trouble moving the ball.

A 56.5-point spread is massive, but after last week's loss, Oregon has a dream get-right spot tonight. The Ducks have a significant talent advantage, and I expect them to keep their foot on the gas long enough to create some serious separation.
