EPL Predictions: Premier League Picks
Tottenham-Aston Villa Under 2.5 Goals (+100)
This is the bet I like most for Saturday's early kickoff.
Neither Tottenham nor Aston Villa has gotten much going offensively in league play. Tottenham has yet to score a Premier League goal this season while Villa has scored just once through its first four matches.
That ineffectiveness in attack is especially notable given the quality on both sides of the field. Tottenham has struggled to turn possession into dangerous chances while Villa has also had difficulty creating consistent attacking production.
With both teams entering the matchup with major scoring concerns, three goals feels like a fairly high bar, making under 2.5 my preferred way to approach what could be a cautious and low-scoring contest.
Arsenal Moneyline (-145) at Brighton
Arsenal is my favorite ML to back on the Matchweek 5 slate.
The Gunners enter Saturday's trip to Brighton with a perfect record through four league matches, while Brighton has totaled seven points. More importantly, Arsenal's defense has been extremely difficult to break down. The Gunners have conceded only one goal through four Premier League matches and have kept three clean sheets.
Brighton has been much more aggressive going forward, averaging 3.25 goals per game in the early-season sample, but Arsenal's defensive structure represents a substantially tougher test. Brighton also comes into this matchup after a 5-0 win over Coventry, while Arsenal beat Sunderland 2-0 on the road in its most recent league match.
The Gunners' elite defense gives them a strong foundation while their ability to control possession and create chances should eventually give them opportunities against Brighton's back line.
Liverpool Moneyline (+115) at Bournemouth
Liverpool is another road favorite worth targeting, particularly with the Reds available at plus money for this Sunday clash against the Cherries.
Bournemouth has quietly struggled a bit so far this season, amassing only three points. Liverpool aren’t flying, either, but the Reds bring significantly more attacking talent into the matchup. Plus, the Reds have won 12 of the teams' last 14 meetings over the past nine years.
Bournemouth's home advantage makes this a tough task for Liverpool, but the Reds have enough quality in the final third to create problems throughout the match.
Soccer Betting FAQ
What is a moneyline bet in soccer?
A moneyline bet is a wager on which team will win the match. Because soccer matches can end in a draw, most moneyline markets include three options: the home team, the away team, or a draw.
What does “draw no bet” mean?
Draw no bet removes the draw as a losing outcome. If the match ends tied, your wager is refunded. If your team wins, the bet wins.
What is a soccer total?
A total is a bet on how many combined goals will be scored in a match. For example, an Over 2.5 Goals bet wins if at least three goals are scored.
What does “both teams to score” mean?
Both Teams to Score, often abbreviated BTTS, is a wager on whether each team will score at least one goal during the match.
