3 MLB FanDuel Value Plays for Tuesday 8/1/23
Finding low-salary production is one way to get a leg up on the competition in MLB DFS.
Here are some low-salary players to target on FanDuel for Tuesday's main slate.

Alex Cobb, SP, San Francisco Giants ($9,200)
It took Alex Cobb 12 MLB seasons to earn his first All-Star nomination, but it finally happened this year. And deservedly so, as the San Francisco Giants hurler is putting together an incredibly efficient campaign.
Through 19 games started in 2023, Cobb is exercising a masterful 57.4% ground-ball rate which has largely contributed to his current 3.64 SIERA.
Cobb will face the division rival Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday, which is a team with speed. Still, the fact that Cobb issues bases on balls at a low rate (6.2%) will play in his favor.
Cobb has matched up with the D-Backs once prior this season. Back on May 11th, he went 7.1 innings of shutout ball against the Snakes en route to producing 41.0 FanDuel points in the outing.
According to numberFire, Cobb has a DFS projection of 34.1 points tonight, which is the fourth-highest of any player on the slate. Factored in with his affordable salary of $9,200 and the 2023 All-Star has an outstanding value score of 3.71.
Salvador Perez, C, Kansas City Royals ($2,900)
Salvador Perez of the Kansas City Royals has been one of the top catchers in the American League for more than a decade. Even in his 12th season, he is still yielding an OPS above .715 on the year and is likely to go over 20 home runs for the seventh time in his career (sitting on 17 at the moment).
On Tuesday, Perez is set for a contest at home against starting pitcher Jose Quintana the New York Mets. When playing at Kauffman Stadium, Perez carries an OPS of .736 compared to .703 on the road.
Perez is projected to produce 12.4 FanDuel points on Tuesday -- second-most among all active catchers. At just $2,900, he is left with a 4.28 value score, which places him sixth of all batters in that category.
There hasn't been much to be excited for on the baseball diamond in Kansas City this season: perhaps everyone in town is still basking in Super Bowl glory. Either way, Perez -- along with Bobby Witt Jr. -- is still one of the Royals' most exciting players.
Tommy Pham, OF, New York Mets ($2,900)
Sticking with the same game, let us take a glance in the visitor's dugout; Mets outfielder Tommy Pham seems like a DFS selection with high potential.
Pham is a player who takes fantasy sports rather seriously, so you know he is the type of man to give his best effort on the field night in and night out. On the diamond, Pham brings many attributes to a lineup, such as speed, power, and energy. His season wOBA is .352 right now, which would be his third-best mark throughout 10 years in the Majors.
Of all eligible hitters on Tuesday, numberFire projects Tommy Pham as the most valuable (5.23), yielding 15.2 FanDuel points. Against the Royals, Pham will face 20-year MLB veteran, Zack Greinke.
At the age of 39, Greinke's stuff simply is not as sharp as it once was. On the year, he is surrendering 1.77 home runs per nine innings -- the worst clip of his lengthy career. Additionally, the Metropolitans are showing a run total projection of 5.38 at numberFire, which is the third-most of all 30 teams tonight.
