Valhalla Golf Club Course Key Stats

PGA Championship Betting Picks

These picks stand out relative to their FanDuel Sportsbook golf betting odds at FanDuel Sportsbook. All stats cited below originate at datagolf and reference ranks relative to the field over the past 50 rounds unless otherwise noted.

Xander Schauffele

Xander Schauffele's second-place finish at the Wells Fargo Championship was his latest chapter in a book full of a near victories. Since his win at the Genesis Scottish Open in 2022, he has 14 top-five finishes without a victory. Still, it's a skill to consistently put yourself in a position to win, and Schauffele has done that.

He is second in the field in total strokes gained and strokes gained: tee to green. He is fifth in strokes gained: approach, 11th in strokes gained: around the green, 20th in strokes gained: putting, and 27th in driving distance. He is the only golfer in the field to rank inside the top 20 in every strokes gained category and now has four top-10 finishes across his last six events.

Joaquin Niemann

Joaquin Niemann was in excellent form entering the 2024 Masters and wound up finishing T22. He lost strokes putting, but the strengths of his game -- his play off the tee and on approach -- showed up. Those strengths are exactly what we are looking for at Valhalla this week. Niemann is third in the field in driving distance and strokes gained: approach. He is fifth in strokes gained: tee to green and total strokes gained. Since the Masters, Niemann has finished T3 and T7 in his two LIV events. Putting and play around the greens is easier at Valhalla than at Augusta National, which should help downplay some of Niemann's weaknesses.

Sahith Theegala

Sahith Theegala's play around the greens (-1.38 strokes per round) heavily contributed to a T52 finish at the Wells Fargo Championship, but his approach game and play off the tee remained positive. He is ninth in the field in strokes gained: putting, 15th in strokes gained: off the tee, and 21st in total strokes gained. Historically, he has actually played well around the green in majors, with positive strokes gained: around the green in six of his eight majors starts. He has the distance and putting to perform well this week.

Si Woo Kim

Over his last 50 rounds, Si Woo Kim hasn't shown the kind of distance that will be advantageous this week, but he has been longer off the tee of late. He is 114th in the field in driving distance, but over his last three events, he has been much closer to average in distance, including at last week's Wells Fargo Championship, which was played at another very long Par 71 (Quail Hollow).

Kim is fourth in the field in driving accuracy, 14th in strokes gained: approach, 10th in strokes gained: off the tee, and 13th in total strokes gained. The flat stick remains his weakness, but his best putting performances in his last 25 starts have come at important events, including THE PLAYERS Championship (+1.27 strokes gained putting per round), 2023 U.S. Open (+0.43), 2023 Tour Championship (+0.39), and 2024 Masters (+0.18). He has seven top-20 finishes in his last 10 starts.

Russell Henley

Russell Henley also lacks distance, but every other part of his game is in excellent form heading into this week. He has four top-12 showings over his last six events, three of which were signature events. He finished T10 at the Wells Fargo Championship last week despite losing strokes off the tee due to his lack of distance. He is 14th in the field in total strokes gained, 11th in driving accuracy, and 24th in strokes gained: approach. In his last five majors, he has two missed cuts, a T39 (2024 Masters), a T14 (2023 U.S. Open) and a T4 (2023 Masters).
