Notre Dame vs. Wisconsin Prediction, Props and Best Bets for Today

Notre Dame vs. Wisconsin Picks in Summary

  • Notre Dame -20.5 (-106)
  • Aneyas Williams 80+ Rushing Yards (-114)

Notre Dame begins its 2026 season with a marquee matchup against Wisconsin on Sunday night at Lambeau Field in the latest installment of the Shamrock Series.

The Fighting Irish are coming off a 10-2 season and return quarterback CJ Carr, who threw for 2,741 yards, 24 touchdowns and six interceptions as a freshman in 2025. Wisconsin, meanwhile, went just 4-8 last season but added an intriguing transfer quarterback in Colton Joseph, who produced 2,624 passing yards and 1,007 rushing yards at Old Dominion in 2025.

I'm laying the points with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Notre Dame was one of the country's most efficient offenses last season, averaging 42.0 points per game and 5.7 yards per rushing attempt. Carr returns after accounting for 27 total touchdowns as a freshman, and the Irish still have a strong offensive line in front of him.

The biggest question for Notre Dame is replacing running backs Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price, who combined for more than 2,000 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns last season. Aneyas Williams is expected to take over as the lead back after averaging 7.6 yards per carry over his first two seasons.

Even with potentially some question marks in ND’s backfield, this is an enormous talent mismatch.

The Wisconsin Badgers averaged only 12.83 points and 253.1 total yards per game last season. The Badgers also completed just 57.7% of their passes and threw 13 interceptions against nine touchdowns.

Joseph has considerably more upside than Wisconsin's 2025 quarterback group, but he is stepping onto a huge stage against a Notre Dame defense that allowed just 17.6 points per game last season. The Irish also held opponents to 3.0 yards per rushing attempt.

Carr is one of the nation’s top QBs, and I think Notre Dame's defense can create enough short fields to give him plenty of scoring chances.

Notre Dame lost an elite one-two punch when Love and Price left for the NFL, so Williams is expected to step into a much larger role. He averaged 7.6 yards per carry over his first two seasons, and Notre Dame has made it clear that the rushing attack will remain a major part of the offense.

The matchup is also favorable.

Wisconsin's defense was solid overall last season, but Notre Dame has a significant advantage up front. The Irish averaged 203.4 rushing yards per game in 2025 while Wisconsin gave up 105.3 rushing yards per game.

The key for this prop is volume. If Notre Dame gets lead, which is the expectation, Williams should see plenty of second-half carries.

Williams’ talent, ND’s offensive line and the Irish’s commitment to the run game pushes me to this prop line.

College Football Betting FAQ

What are the most common college football bets?

The most common college football bets are the point spread, moneyline, and game total. Bettors can also wager on player props, team totals, alternate spreads, and futures such as conference champions or the national championship winner.

How does the point spread work in college football betting?

The point spread gives one team a handicap to create a more even betting market. If a team is listed at -7.5, it must win by at least eight points for a spread bet on that team to cash. A team listed at +7.5 can lose by seven points or fewer — or win outright — and still cover the spread.

What does over/under mean in college football?

An over/under, also called a game total, is a wager on the combined number of points scored by both teams. Bettors can choose whether the final score will finish over or under the sportsbook's posted total.

What should you consider before betting on college football?

Matchups, quarterback play, offensive and defensive efficiency, injuries, pace, home-field advantage, and coaching tendencies can all be important.
