NHL Predictions Today: Player Props, Best Bets

Seattle Kraken Moneyline (-130)

The Seattle Kraken return home for Wednesday's matchup with the Calgary Flames, and the situational advantages make Seattle an appealing moneyline selection.

Seattle enters the contest with an 8-5-1 record, compared to Calgary's 7-8-0 mark. The Kraken have also been effective on home ice, winning four of their first six home games. Meanwhile, the Flames have struggled away from Calgary, posting a 2-5-0 road record.

Rest could be another significant advantage for Seattle. The Kraken haven't played since Friday, giving them four full days off, while Calgary is playing its fourth game in six days. The Flames are also wrapping up a three-game road trip.

Calgary defeated Seattle 6-2 in their previous meeting on October 30, but the Kraken should be better positioned for the rematch with home ice and a substantial rest advantage. Seattle has also scored at least four goals in seven of its first 14 games, giving the Kraken enough offensive upside to take advantage of a tired opponent.

Alex Laferriere Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-135)

Sharks at Kings — 10:00 p.m. ET

Alex Laferriere has been one of the Los Angeles Kings' most aggressive shooters lately, and Wednesday's matchup against the San Jose Sharks sets up nicely for another productive outing.

Laferriere has recorded 15 shots on goal over his last three games, averaging 5.0 per contest during that stretch. Although he hasn't scored in any of those games, his willingness to consistently put the puck on net is encouraging for this prop.

The matchup also works in his favor. San Jose is allowing 30.4 shots on goal per game this season, the third-most in the NHL. The Sharks have been even more generous recently, surrendering an average of 32.8 shots over their last 10 contests.

Los Angeles is averaging 28.0 shots per game, and Laferriere's recent shooting volume suggests he should continue to play an important role in generating scoring opportunities. With the Sharks struggling to limit opposing shot attempts, Laferriere has a favorable opportunity to record at least three shots on goal.

NHL Betting -- Frequently Asked Questions

What Is the Puck Line in NHL Betting?

The puck line is hockey's version of a point spread. The standard puck line is usually set at 1.5 goals, meaning a team listed at -1.5 must win by at least two goals for the bet to cash. A team at +1.5 can either win outright or lose by one goal.

What Does the Moneyline Mean in NHL Betting?

A moneyline bet is a wager on which team will win the game. Favorites have negative odds, while underdogs have positive odds. Unlike the puck line, the margin of victory does not matter.

What Are NHL Player Props?

NHL player props allow bettors to wager on an individual player's performance rather than the final result of the game. Common markets include goals, assists, points, shots on goal, and goalie saves.

What Should You Consider When Betting on NHL Games?

Several factors can influence NHL betting decisions, including starting goaltenders, injuries, recent team performance, special-teams play, expected line combinations, and whether a team is playing on consecutive nights. Because goalie confirmations can significantly impact a matchup, it can be useful to check the latest lineup news before placing a bet.
