Best NFL Bets and Predictions for This Week (Week 6)
Chicago Bears -1.5 (-110)
Bears vs. Falcons (1 p.m. ET)
Spread
I like the Chicago Bears at close to a pick’em price on the road against the Atlanta Falcons.
The Bears and Falcons are both scoring 23.8 points per game, but Chicago has been significantly better defensively, allowing 19.2 points per game, compared to Atlanta's 24.4. Chicago is also seventh in total offense at 392.4 yards per game — despite starting three different QBs already — while Atlanta checks in 10th at 361.8.
The matchup also sets up reasonably well for Chicago. Atlanta has been excellent against the run, but opponents are throwing on the Falcons at the NFL's highest rate (67.6%). That gives Caleb Williams — who is expected back this week — a path to attack an Atlanta secondary that hasn't generated many splash plays; the Falcons have just one interception through five games.
Indianapolis Colts -6.5 (-120)
Titans vs. Colts (1 p.m. ET)
Spread
This is mostly a bet against a Tennessee Titans offense that has been the NFL's worst through five games.
The Titans rank dead last in both scoring (11.6 points per game) and total offense (246.4 yards per game) while averaging only 4.5 yards per play. Their possessions have produced just 1.21 points per drive, and Tennessee has scored on only 23.4% of its drives.
Indianapolis has its own flaws, particularly on defense, but the Colts are still scoring 24.8 points per game -- more than twice Tennessee's average.
The Titans have also run an NFL-low 54.6 plays per game and rank 31st in passing EPA, making it difficult for them to erase a deficit if Indianapolis gets ahead.
I like getting Indy at this spread, which keeps us below the key number of seven.
Steelers-Buccaneers Under 39.5 (-115)
Steelers vs. Buccaneers (1 p.m. ET)
Total Points
Even with a total this low, I think the under is playable.
The Pittsburgh Steelers rank 18th in scoring at 22.2 points per game and 19th in yards per game (324.6) while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers sit 25th in scoring at 20.0 points per game and 22nd in total offense (306.4 yards per game). Both offenses have also been fairly ordinary on a per-play basis: Pittsburgh is averaging 5.3 yards per play and Tampa Bay 5.0.
The red-zone profile helps the under, too. Only 40.9% of the scoring plays Pittsburgh has allowed have been touchdowns, the third-lowest rate in the league, while Tampa Bay is fourth-lowest at 42.9%.
Tampa's defense also ranks sixth in opponent EPA per play. Add in the Bucs being without Baker Mayfield for another week, and the table is set for a low-scoring affair.
NFL Betting FAQ
What is an NFL point spread?
A point spread is designed to level the playing field between two teams. Favorites must win by more than the spread, while underdogs can either win outright or lose by fewer points than the spread.
What is an NFL moneyline bet?
A moneyline bet is simply picking which team will win the game. Favorites have negative odds, while underdogs have positive odds.
What are NFL player props?
Player prop bets focus on an individual player's performance, such as passing yards, rushing yards, receiving yards, touchdowns, or receptions, rather than the outcome of the game.
