Pick 1: Zaccharie Risacher, Pick 2: Alexandre Sarr, Pick 3: Reed Sheppard (-110)

The clear favorite is Zaccharie Risacher being the first pick, followed by Alexandre Sarr at No. 2, and Reed Sheppard going third.

Sheppard has been the perceived favorite for the Houston Rockets for awhile now. That remains the case as the Kentucky guard carries -180 odds to go third. Mock drafts continue to suggest Sheppard going to H-Town, including Yahoo Sports and SB Nation.

With this line, it could mostly concern the first and second picks. Sarr was the favorite for No. 1 for a long stretch, but that flipped last week. Risacher's odds have continued to grow for the first pick at -230. Sarr has become the overwhelming favorite to be selected at No. 2 by the Washington Wizards (-700).

Overall, this is the most likely scenario for the first three picks in order. Risacher, Sarr, and Sheppard are the favorites to be drafted at each slot.

Pick 1: Zaccharie Risacher, Pick 2: Alexandre Sarr, Pick 3: Donovan Clingan (+450)

The next line that stands out has Risacher and Sarr as the first two picks, but this time Donovan Clingan is filling the third spot. Behind Sheppard, Clingan has the second-shortest odds at +280. Sheppard has the lowest odds among the favorites for the first three picks. If there's a pick worth going against the grain, it's the third selection.

Taking this side could depend on if the fit of Clingan to the Rockets makes sense. Houston's top player is Alperen Sengun, who led the team with 21.1 points per game (PPG) and 9.3 rebounds per game (RPG) in the 2023-24 season. Houston has the center position figured out, and Sengun likely lacks the versatility to slide into power forward, making room for Clingan at center.

If Clingan would go third, it would likely require a trade. While this line carries the second-shortest odds for the first three picks in order, this doesn't seem promising considering the fit of Clingan on the Rockets.

Pick 1: Donovan Clingan, Pick 2: Alexandre Sarr, Pick 3: Zaccharie Risacher (+1200)

The sleeper line could be Clingan going first, Sarr second, and Risacher third. Clingan has picked up some steam for the first pick this week. Various reports have claimed the Atlanta Hawks will likely pick from Clingan or Risacher at No. 1.

Sarr seems locked up in the second slot. He even declined to workout with the Hawks, bringing an end to the first pick hype. He is now +650 to be the first player off of the board. With -700 odds, any player other than Sarr going to Washington would be a big surprise.

We can't completely overlook Clingan carrying +260 odds to be the top selection. If it shakes out this way, the Wizards could still pass on the French wing Risacher. Washington has few strengths, but they do have solid wing play with Kyle Kuzma and Deni Avdija. Sarr would still probably be the best fit with the second pick.

This would then cause Risacher to be available at three. Houston and the 19-year-old forward could be a match made in heaven. The Rockets would likely be between Risacher and Sheppard.

Houston already has a solid point guard in Fred VanVleet, making Sheppard less of a need. Risacher is coveted for his 3-and-D potential, which fits the Rockets' fancy. Houston finished with the 10th-lowest defensive rating and attempted the 12th-most three-point shots each game last season.

Pairing Risacher with Dillon Brooks and Amen Thompson would load the Rockets with exceptional wing defenders.

The +1200 odds make this line worth a look. The most likely order for the first three picks will be Risacher first, Sarr second, and Sheppard third. Clingan nabbing the first selection, followed by Sarr going second, and Risacher falling to the third selection is demanding some attention considering the inflated +1200 odds.
