MLB SGP Bets

Toronto Blue Jays at Baltimore Orioles

First 5 Innings Total Runs Over 5.5 (+108)
Ernie Clement to Record an RBI (+125)
Ryan Mountcastle to Record 2+ Hits (+175)

Combined Odds: +797

Let's target a couple of parlays with at least +400 combined odds to take full advantage of FanDuel's 30% Profit Boost on a 3+ Leg Same Game Parlay / Same Game Parlay Plus Wager on any MLB game on July 29th.

We are starting out with a big swing on +797 combined odds for the second game of the Toronto Blue Jays-Baltimore Orioles doubleheader.

Neither team is putting an exceptional pitcher on the mound. Bowden Francis, who has a 5.82 ERA over 16 appearances, will make his fourth start of the season for the Jays. For the O's, Cade Povich is appearing in his eighth start, carrying a 5.49 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA).

With two underwhelming starters on the bump, we can expect both batting orders to come roaring out the gates.

Baltimore has the third-most runs scored against righties on the season. Plus, they have the seventh-most runs above average versus fastballs and the highest mark in the category against curveballs -- which are Francis' two most-used pitches.

The Blue Jays are likely gearing up for the same level of success. Povich has given up at least five runs in six of his seven starts this season. Keep in mind he's finished the sixth inning in only one of seven appearances, so the Jays should be able to do some damage early today.

Considering the starters for this matchup, the -102 odds for over 5.5 runs makes a lot of sense.

Toronto's Ernie Clement is worth a look. He's totaled three RBIs over his last three contests and slashes .274/.303/.452 against lefties. Clement sees his numbers spike to .290/.298/.500 on the road, as well.

Clement recorded two RBI the last time he faced a left-handed starter. The Blue Jays' third baseman could be gearing up for a heavy dose of fastballs with Povich carrying a 40.6% four-seam fastball usage rate. This further points to another RBI for Clement as he hits .314 against this pitch.

To round out our parlay, Ryan Mountcastle has my attention. Per usual, any batter recording 2+ hits is carrying juicy plus odds. Mountcastle is consistently recording multi-hit games over his previous five contests (three occasions during the span).

Mountcastle has owned Francis over three career at-bats, totaling three knocks in the matchups. Even more impressive, each was an extra-base hit, with Mountcastle totaling one double and two dingers. We don't want to make too much of a small sample, but Mountcastle clearly sees the ball well versus Francis.

Pair Mountcastle's recent numbers with a good matchup against the opposing team's starter and he looks bound for two hits yet again.

Chicago Cubs at Cincinnati Reds

Jameson Taillon Over 4.5 Strikeouts (-115)
Elly De La Cruz to Record 2+ Total Bases (-105)
Cincinnati Reds Moneyline (-108)

Combined Odds: +569

The Chicago Cubs' Jameson Taillon is carrying a career-best 2.96 ERA, but other stats suggest that this season hasn't been that special for Taillon. For example, his 1.15 WHIP ranks as just his fourth-best mark over his eight-season career. Taillon's SIERA (4.24) and xFIP (4.18) aren't anything to write home about, either.

Before looking at how the Cincinnati Reds can take advance of Taillon, let's dive into Taillon's strikeout total.

The number is set at 4.5. Cincinnati has the fifth-highest strikeout percentage (K%) in baseball and has reached double-digit Ks in four of their last five contests. Taillon has reached five strikeouts in three of his previous five.

Additionally, the Reds are among the bottom six teams in runs above average against Taillon's best strikeout pitches -- sweeper and curveball. The Cubs' hurler looks bound for at least five strikeouts.

Not everything is sunshine and rainbows for Taillon, though. Elly De La Cruz is one batter posing a major threat.

De La Cruz is as hot as the blazing sun, totaling 8 hits over his last 20 at-bats (.400). After earning his first All-Star appearance, Elly is slashing .308/.393/.577 this month.

We've seen the rising star total multiple hits in three of his last five. There's not much reason to believe this will come to an end against Taillon.

Pitch usage should play a major role in this matchup. De La Cruz is hitting .268 against four-seam fastballs and .368 versus cutters, which are Taillon's must-used tools.

We know Elly can slug, ranking in the top 18% in average exit velocity, top 14% in barrel rate, and top 30% in hard-hit percentage. This can be an issue for Taillon, who is in the bottom 29% in average exit velocity and has surrendered six homers over his last six outings.

An extra-base hit is very promising for De La Cruz, making two total bases an enticing choice.

The Reds' moneyline intrigues me considering recent head-to-head clashes. Cincy has had their way in this matchup, winning 7 of the last 10 meetings, including a 5-2 record this season. Chicago has managed to win in only two of their last seven trips to the Queen City, as well.

I have no problem putting trust in the Redlegs' recent success against their divisional rival. The -108 odds only sweetens the deal.
