MLB Playoff Predictions Today: MLB Best Bets and Picks for October 6, 2026

Tuesday’s MLB Betting Picks in Summary

  • Atlanta Braves Moneyline (-108)
  • San Diego Padres Moneyline (-134)

The MLB postseason continues Tuesday with a pair of pivotal Game 3s in the National League Division Series.

The Atlanta Braves return home with their series against the Los Angeles Dodgers tied at 1-1 while the San Diego Padres will try to keep their season alive after dropping the first two games of their series against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Atlanta Braves

The Atlanta Braves stole home-field advantage by taking Game 2 in Los Angeles, and I like their chances of following that up with another victory in Game 3.

The biggest reason is Chris Sale.

Atlanta intentionally kept Sale out of Game 2 in order to have him at full strength Tuesday. The left-hander finished the regular season 14-9 with a 2.16 ERA and 30.9% strikeout rate, and he'll now get the ball at Truist Park with the series tied.

Sale has also had plenty of success against this Los Angeles Dodgers lineup. The current group of Los Angeles hitters owns just a .200 batting average and .259 wOBA against him across 153 career plate appearances. He's struck out 26.8% of those hitters while issuing a walk only 3.3% of the time.

Of course, the Braves don't have an easy matchup on the other side. Yoshinobu Yamamoto went 14-9 with a 2.53 ERA and 25.7% K rate during the regular season, so runs could be difficult to come by for both teams.

Still, getting Sale at home at essentially pick'em odds is attractive. Atlanta has already played Los Angeles tough all season, winning five of their eight meetings entering tonight, including a 3-2 victory in Game 2 on Sunday. With Sale rested and the Braves back at Truist Park, I'll side with Atlanta on the moneyline.

Padres Moneyline (-134)

San Diego Padres

The San Diego Padres have their backs against the wall after the Milwaukee Brewers took both games at American Family Field, but the starting-pitching matchup gives San Diego a good chance to extend the series.

Milwaukee is turning to Dustin May, who finished the regular season 7-9 with a 4.70 ERA and 23.2% K rate. San Diego counters with Nick Pivetta, who enters Game 3 with a 2.86 ERA over his 2026 work.

May is the pitcher I want to attack here. He gave up a .337 wOBA to left-handed hitters and a .358 wOBA on the road overall in 2026.

That could give San Diego opportunities to create traffic early, and the Padres should also benefit from returning home to Petco Park after losing two one-run games in Milwaukee. The Brewers won Game 1 by a 3-2 score before escaping with a 4-3 victory in Game 2.

Those results have put San Diego in a 2-0 hole, but there hasn’t been much of a gap between these clubs through two games.

Pivetta gives the Padres a reasonable chance to keep Milwaukee's offense in check, and May's 4.70 ERA makes this the most favorable starting-pitching matchup San Diego has seen in the series.

With their season on the line and the series shifting to Petco Park, I'll back the Padres to force a Game 4.

MLB Betting Frequently Asked Questions

What are MLB player prop bets?

MLB player prop bets are wagers on specific statistical outcomes tied to individual players during a game — not on which team wins or loses. You might bet on how many strikeouts a starting pitcher records, whether a shortstop gets a hit, or how many total bases an outfielder accumulates.

Because they are isolated to a single player's performance, props let you apply focused knowledge about matchups, recent form, and ballpark conditions rather than predicting the full game result.

What types of MLB player props are available?

FanDuel offers a wide menu of MLB props. The most common categories include:

  • Pitcher strikeouts
  • Batter hits
  • Home runs
  • Total bases
  • RBIs
  • Stolen bases
  • Pitcher outs recorded

What does +310 mean on an MLB home run prop bet?

A +310 line means a $100 bet returns $310 in profit if the player homers. You can bet any amount — a $10 bet at +310 returns $31 in profit. The number reflects the implied probability the sportsbook assigns to the event (roughly 24% for +310 odds).

What does "total bases" mean as a prop bet?

The total bases prop counts the bases a batter earns from hits in a single game:

  • Single = 1 base
  • Double = 2 bases
  • Triple = 3 bases
  • Home run = 4 bases

Walks, hit-by-pitches, and stolen bases do not count. A typical total bases line is set at 1.5 or 2.5. Betting over 1.5 means you need at least a double, or two singles.
