MLB Player Prop Bets to Target on Thursday 8/24/23

Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy baseball on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some MLB player props bets that look appealing.

Christian Walker To Record an RBI (+120)

A strong 4.76 implied run total puts the Arizona Diamondbacks in a spot to be a top offense tonight.

The Diamondbacks have been up and down in the second half of the season and right now is on the up. Their offense is clicking and they have a matchup against the Cincinnati Reds to continue pouring on the runs.

The Reds will have Brandon Williamson on the mound, who comes in allowing a .327 wOBA, .460 SLG, 4.47 xFIP, 1.81 HR/9, and 43.6% hard-contact rate versus right-handed hitters. This presents plenty of upside for the Dbacks' hitters tonight.

We turn to Christian Walker, who has elite numbers versus southpaws with a 160 wRC+, .412 wOBA, .358 ISO, 51.8% fly-ball rate, and 41.0% hard-contact rate this season. I love everything about this matchup for Walker, who has been crushing this split all year.

Luis Robert To Record 2+ Total Bases (-115)

The Chicago White Sox have a slate-high 5.32 implied run total against the lowly Oakland Athletics.

We have a smaller slate of games today so let's just keep things simple with a great hitter versus a bad pitcher.

That hitter would be Luis Robert, who comes in with a 161 wRC+, .405 wOBA, .434 BABIP, .269 ISO, 39.0% fly-ball rate, and 35.6% hard-contact rate versus left-handed pitchers this season. He's elite across the board in this split and there's no reason to overthink things.

He will be up against Ken Waldichuk, who allows a .372 wOBA, .489 SLG, 5.04 xFIP, .340 BABIP, 1.49 HR/9, and 39.7% hard-contact rate versus right-handed hitters. All of this puts Robert in a great spot to pick up two bases tonight.
