Colorado vs. Georgia Tech Picks Today: Prediction, Props and Best Bets

Colorado vs Georgia Tech Picks in Summary

  • Georgia Tech -6.5 (-120)
  • Justice Haynes 80+ Rushing Yards (-118)

Thursday night's college football slate features an intriguing nonconference matchup as the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets host the Colorado Buffaloes at Bobby Dodd Stadium. Georgia Tech enters as a 6.5-point favorite with a total of 50.5 points, according FanDuel Sportsbook’s college football odds.

Georgia Tech is looking to build on a 9-4 season in 2025 and has a favorable matchup against a Colorado defense that is replacing all 11 starters. The Buffaloes, meanwhile, finished just 3-9 last season and have undergone significant roster turnover. That makes for an interesting game from both a side and player-prop perspective, and these are the bets I like most.

Using the college football odds at FanDuel Sportsbook as a guide, here are the best bets for this game.

Colorado vs Georgia Tech Prediction and Picks

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets went 9-4 last season and return enough offensive talent to make this a difficult matchup for a Colorado Buffaloes team coming off a 3-9 campaign. Georgia Tech is also at home at Bobby Dodd Stadium.

Colorado will turn to sophomore quarterback Julian Lewis, who completed 55.32% of his passes for 589 yards and four touchdowns in limited action last season. Lewis did not throw an interception in those four games, but Thursday represents a significant test against a Georgia Tech team that should be fired up at home in their opener.

Georgia Tech went 7-6 against the spread last season and was 3-3 ATS when favored by at least 6.5 points. Colorado was just 5-7 ATS overall and 2-4 ATS as an underdog of 6.5 points or more.

The Buffaloes have enough talent to keep this competitive for a while, but Georgia Tech is the more trustworthy team and should eventually pull away at home.

Justice Haynes 80+ Rushing Yards (-118)

Justice Haynes - Alt Rushing Yds
Justice Haynes 80+ Yards

Haynes, the Georgia Tech running back, rushed for 122.0 yards per game across his seven starts at Michigan last season, averaging 7.1 yards per carry, and he topped 100 rushing yards in six of those seven starts.

He also recorded at least one 20-yard run in every one of those starts, showcasing the big-play ability that gives him the upside to make chunk plays.

The matchup is particularly appealing because Colorado's defense was vulnerable against the run last season, allowing more than 220 rushing yards per game. Georgia Tech also ran the ball on more than 54% of its offensive plays in 2025, and with Alberto Mendoza making his first career start at quarterback, the Yellow Jackets have every reason to lean heavily on Haynes.

College Football Betting FAQ

What are the most common college football bets?

The most common college football bets are the point spread, moneyline, and game total. Bettors can also wager on player props, team totals, alternate spreads, and futures such as conference champions or the national championship winner.

How does the point spread work in college football betting?

The point spread gives one team a handicap to create a more even betting market. If a team is listed at -7.5, it must win by at least eight points for a spread bet on that team to cash. A team listed at +7.5 can lose by seven points or fewer — or win outright — and still cover the spread.

What does over/under mean in college football?

An over/under, also called a game total, is a wager on the combined number of points scored by both teams. Bettors can choose whether the final score will finish over or under the sportsbook's posted total.

What should you consider before betting on college football?

Matchups, quarterback play, offensive and defensive efficiency, injuries, pace, home-field advantage, and coaching tendencies can all be important.
