3 NHL Player Prop Bets to Target on Thursday 10/26/23

Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy baseball on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some NHL player props bets that look appealing via the NHL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Please note that betting lines and numberFire's projections may change throughout the day after this article is published. Also, the weather may be an issue in some locations.

Mika Zibanejad To Score a Goal (+190)

The New York Rangers have a 3.35 implied goal total against the Edmonton Oilers in a game that should feature plenty of offense.

The Oilers have been a mess on defense to start the season and are currently allowing 3.49 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the third-worst in the league. They've allowed four goals or more in four of their six games, making this a clear team to target.

For the Rangers, we'll turn to Mika Zibanejad, who is the center on the first forward line and the first power-play unit, putting him in a prime spot to score. Despite that premium offensive role, Zibanejad has zero goals this season.

It's not for not trying, as he has 19 shots on goal in his six games. Over the last two seasons, Zibanejad had 29 and 39 goals, putting him among the best on the team. He's simply due for a goal and has a great matchup to finally find the back of the net this season.

Nazem Kadri Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (-102)

Nazem Kadri is firing the puck all over the place and in a great matchup against the St. Louis Blues.

To start the season, the Blues come in with a 70.36 Corsi Against (Total Shot Attempts Allowed) per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the second-worst in the league. Kadri and the Calgary Flames come in with a 64.72 Corsi For (Total Shot Attempts Created) in the same situations, which is the fifth-best in the league.

We have a matchup of two teams at the opposite ends of the shot spectrum going head-to-head. One team takes a ton of shots, one team allows a ton of shots.

This is great for Kadri, who has turned things up over the past three games, coming in with 15 shots on goal in that time. For the season, he has 22 shots on goal in seven games, which is good for 3.1 per game.

Given the favorable matchup and his recent trend, love this spot for Kadri to keep pushing the offense and generating shots.

Nathan MacKinnon Over 4.5 Shots on Goal (-135)

When it comes to shots on goal, Nathan MacKinnon is the king.

Currently, MacKinnon leads the entire NHL with 39 shots on goal through his first six games. An average of 6.5 shots on goal per game is very high, and it will regress, but not by that much.

Last season, MacKinnon finished with the second-most (366) shots on goal in the NHL or an average of 5.1 per game. MacKinnon also missed 11 games last season and still managed to finish with the second-most shots on goal.

I'm trying to paint a clear picture that MacKinnon is elite and this is a great prop to attack.

The Colorado Avalanche come in with a 70.62 Corsi For, which is the second-highest in the league. Not only MacKinnon, but his entire team likes to shoot the puck at a very high rate. We've seen that on display to start the season when he logged shot totals of 6, 8, and 14 in three of his first six games.

Given his propensity to shoot the puck, it's reasonable to add a sprinkle on MacKinnon To Record 6+ Shots (+146).
