3 MLB FanDuel Value Plays for Wednesday 8/9/23
Finding low-salary production is one way to get a leg up on the competition in MLB DFS.
Here are some value plays to target on FanDuel for today's main slate.

Bobby Miller, P, Los Angeles Dodgers ($8,900)
There are a number of great pitching matchups today, but if you're looking to save with a potential value, look no further than Bobby Miller.
The Los Angeles Dodgers starter has had a fine rookie campaign that features an encouraging 4.00 SIERA and 23.3% strikeout rate through 63 1/3 innings. Miller also has a solid 3.54 FIP while averaging 8.81 strikeouts per nine innings. This should set him up for a solid outing against the Arizona Diamondbacks today.
At one time, the Diamondbacks were one of the more feared lineups in baseball. While they still have a solid offense to offer, they've struggled as of late. Over the last 30 days, Arizona has a .305 wOBA -- best for just 23rd in the league. Their 21.2% strikeout rate isn't all too high, but it's a good enough number for Miller to make something of it in this one.
numberFire's model has Miller projected for 27.1 FanDuel points on the day.
Michael Harris II, OF, Atlanta Braves ($2,900)
While the Atlanta Braves have been a powerhouse all season, it's been an up-and-down one for Michael Harris II to this point.
On the season, Harris has a .341 wOBA, .178 ISO, and 112 wRC+ -- all lower marks than his rookie season. But the reason to be intrigued by Harris as a value today comes in the category of "what have you done for me lately?" The answer: he's balled.
Through seven games in August, the Braves outfielder has a blistering .496 wOBA and .320 ISO. He also has two home runs in the month.
The matchup against Pittsburgh Pirates starter Quinn Priester is an inviting one. Priester hasn't performed all too well in his first four starts; a 5.73 SIERA and 17.0% strikeout rate certainly feels like a chance to take advantage for Harris and the Braves lineup. Don't overthink this one. Harris not only slots in as a great value, but the entire Braves lineup should be considered in a stack today. The bats should be loud up and down the lineup.
Harris is projected for 12.1 FanDuel points, per numberFire.
James Outman, OF, Los Angeles Dodgers ($2,900)
It's been an interesting freshman year for James Outman in the majors, but based on his recent work, he should be a real value.
Through 105 games this season, the Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder has a .349 wOBA to pair with 13 home runs, 49 RBIs, and 14 stolen bases. Outman is an outfielder who can do a little bit of everything, which makes good on hopeful points for DFS lineups.
After a tough May that took him off many radars, he's heated back up with his second half specifically being one worth talking about. In the 22 games he's played in the second half, Outman has a .453 wOBA with a great 1.026 OPS. He's also walked almost as much as he did in the first half, taking one 20 times, which signals his improved eye.
He's get the chance to swing against Merrill Kelly today, who has had a good season (4.06 SIERA) but not one to be too afraid of, either.
Kelly has pitched 17 innings in the second half and has a 4.27 FIP to show for it, and his .306 wOBA against isn't poor, but the Dodgers pose a real threat to make sure of it.
Outman should be able to put up some good numbers; numberFire's model has him projected for 12.0 FanDuel points.
