Best Bets for Mets-Yankees

Mets +1.5 (-150)

After outscoring the Yankees 21-9 across the first two games of the Subway Series last month, the Mets head to the Bronx in a strong position to cover +1.5 runs.

That's largely thanks to the pitching matchup.

Lefty Jose Quintana (4-6; 4.13 ERA) toes the rubber for the visitors, with righty Luis Gil (10-5; 3.17 ERA) taking the mound for the home side.

On paper, Gil and the Yanks have the advantage on the mound. But the 26-year-old rookie has started to show signs of mortality after a torrid start to the year. He's dropped to second in the American League Rookie of the Year odds.

Though Gil has bounced back from a trio of poor outings to register back-to-back quality starts, the Mets have seen firsthand the cracks in his armor. They shelled him for five runs across 4 1/3 innings at the end of June.

That's been an ongoing theme for the Mets when they face right-handed pitchers. In that split, they rank sixth in wRC+ (110), 10th in wOBA (.319), and eighth in ISO (.163).

On the opposing side, Quintana is looking to bounce back from a poor final outing before the All-Star break. Although he let up five runs across 5 2/3 innings in his most recent start, the lefty had posted a 2.77 ERA across his previous 10 outings prior to that one.

He has the right matchup to get back on track. Despite some big names at the top of their order, the Yankees haven't been especially impressive against left-handed pitching.

In that split, the Bronx Bombers rank 14th in WRC+ (103), 17th in wOBA (.310), and 22nd in ISO (.138).

Throw in that the Mets (7-3) have been hotter than the Yankees (5-5) over their last 10 games, and this is a strong spot to back the underdogs to cover the run line.

Aaron Judge 2+ Total Bases (+100)

Although the Yankees haven't been great against lefties as a team, Aaron Judge has had no such issues with southpaws.

Against lefties, Judge has accumulated a 241 wRC+, .510 wOBA, and .425 ISO.

He's blasted 9 of his 35 home runs (25.7%) in that split despite only 20.4% of his at-bats coming against left-handed pitchers. As a result, Judge has the shortest odds to hit a home run in this game (+220).

Those gaudy numbers set him up well to record 2+ total bases.

It doesn't hurt that Quintana has pitched to 4.52 xFIP while allowing a 20.7% line-drive rate against right-handed hitters.

Additionally, Judge will benefit from playing at Yankee Stadium -- the fourth-best venue for right-handed power, per Statcast Park Factors.

Altogether, this is another good opportunity for the American League MVP odds leader (-430) to stay hot and record at least a pair of total bases.

Francisco Lindor To Record a Run (-135)

The Mets lead the league in runs per game (5.7) since June 1st, and we've established that they're in a good spot to cover the run line against Luis Gil tonight.

That bodes well for Francisco Lindor, the Mets' leadoff hitter, to record a run tonight.

Lindor has fared well against right-handed pitchers this season. In that split, the switch-hitter has a 122 wRC+, .337 wOBA, and .191 ISO.

He's flashed a strong eye at the plate, as well, walking at a 10% clip versus righties.

That's helped him score 66 runs across 99 games this season, tied for ninth in the majors.

Furthermore, Lindor cracked a pair of doubles against Gil when they faced off in June, allowing him to score in the Mets' win.

Taking into account his favorable right-handed splits, Lindor is well-positioned to get on base and touch all four bases en route to recording a run tonight.

As of Tuesday afternoon, a Same Game Parlay featuring these three Mets-Yankees best bets would net +434 odds on FanDuel Sportsbook. That would qualify for FanDuel's Subway Series Profit Boost.
