Spain (-160) vs. Netherlands (+120)
Spain didn't end the group stage the way they would have liked, losing 4-0 to Japan. That set up a date with Switzerland in the knockout round, and Spain passed the test with flying colors.
They were able to win handily, 5-1, getting back on track for a potential run to the final. They are currently listed as the second-favorites to make the final (+145) and are second -- behind only England -- to win the tournament (+340).
Spain created 3.5 expected goals (xG) against Switzerland in the last match, per FBRef, and allowed 0.3. They had 69% possession of the ball, and the total shots were 26-2. This was Spain's most impressive match of the tournament when considering the opposition.
Aitana Bonmati scored twice in the last match, bringing her up to three goals in the tournament. She isn't a striker, so she's not someone we usually think about betting on to score. But she is an attacking threat, and her +500 odds to score makes for an interesting bet.
The Netherlands won their group to set up a match against South Africa where, in theory, they would have a big edge. It didn't play out that way. They got the win, 2-0, but it was perhaps closer than they expected.
They held the lead from the ninth minute on and did a great job keeping the ball with 70% possession. But they gave South Africa chances, as South Africa had seven shots on target and created 1.2 xG. This is something the Dutch will have to tighten up against for this match.
Like Bonmati, Jill Roord has added goals from midfield. She currently has four, one off the lead for the tournament. If you make separate bets of the same amount on her and Bonmati to score, you'll turn a solid profit if one of them finds the back of the net.
Despite the blip in the match against Japan, Spain is likely the better team in this match. You can bet them to win and both teams not to score and get +151 a the Same Game Parlay, as Spain's defense and ball retention should make it difficult for the Netherlands to score.
