The MLB season is an annual marathon that gives us months of daily betting markets to consider.

While traditional player props like home runs and strikeouts remain popular options, one market that's gained steam is betting whether or not no runs will be scored in the first inning -- aka a No Run First Inning (NRFI) bet.

Best NRFI Picks and Predictions for Today

Guardians at Orioles NRFI (-115)

Tanner Bibee versus Brandon Young doesn't jump off the page as an elite pitching matchup, but there's enough working in our favor to consider the NRFI.

Young owns a 3.42 ERA through 137 innings, and he's been remarkably consistent. Young has allowed four or fewer earned runs in all 24 of his starts this season, and the Cleveland Guardians grade out as a favorable matchup, ranking 25th in wOBA against right-handed pitching.

Bibee brings a 4.06 ERA and 1.18 WHIP into tonight. His strikeout numbers aren't anything special, but the Baltimore Orioles rank a good-not-great 12th in wOBA against righties, so this isn't a matchup where Bibee needs to navigate an elite offense right out of the gate.

There isn't one overpowering ace carrying this bet, but the combination of two capable starters and two fairly manageable lineups makes this one appealing.

Angels at Red Sox NRFI (-154)

This is my favorite NRFI spot of the night, with Reid Detmers and Patrick Sandoval starting.

Detmers has been excellent this season, recording a 3.44 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 28% strikeout rate over 162 innings. He's been particularly sharp early in games lately, holding opponents scoreless in the first inning in each of his past six starts and in eight of his past nine.

Sandoval's overall numbers aren't nearly as impressive, as he owns a 4.41 ERA and 1.73 WHIP. However, the matchup is enticing. The Angels sit 26th in wOBA against left-handed pitching this season, and they've been MLB's worst offense against lefties over the last 30 days. Sandoval has also kept his opponent scoreless in the opening inning in 80% of his starts.

Sandoval's first-inning track record combined with Detmers' recent dominance makes this my preferred NRFI of Tuesday's slate.

Pirates at White Sox NRFI (-136)

Bubba Chandler and Sean Burke will handle the starting pitching duties in Chicago, and Burke is the main reason I'm interested in the NRFI.

Burke has quietly put together a really good season, entering tonight with a 3.20 ERA and 1.14 WHIP across 154.2 innings. His 26.3% strikeout rate is another plus, and the Pirates have a 23.6% strikeout rate against right-handed pitching while ranking 28th in wOBA in the split.

Chandler hasn't been nearly as dominant, pitching to a 4.30 ERA and 1.37 WHIP, but this isn't a matchup we need to fear. Chicago ranks 17th in wOBA rankings against right-handed pitching while Chandler's ability to generate strikeouts gives him a path to navigating the top of the order.

Neither offense presents an especially daunting assignment, and Burke gives us an excellent anchor on the Chicago White Sox side. I like the chances of a scoreless first to begin this one.
