Wide receiver DeVante Parker announces retirement
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVante Parker announced his retirement from the NFL on Monday.
What It Means
Parker entered the league as the 14th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft and went on to catch 402 passes for 5,660 yards and 27 touchdowns over his 9-year career. His most productive season came in 2019, where he caught 72 passes for 1,202 yards and 9 touchdowns. That season included a spectacular performance against Defensive Player of the Year Stephon Gilmore, during which he grabbed 8 of his 11 targets for 137 in the Dolphins' upset Week 17 victory over the Patriots -- his future team.
The steady boundary receiver was a consistent producer throughout his career and signed a new contract with the Philadelphia Eagles at the onset of free agency, but has now decided instead to hang up his cleats ahead of the 2024 season.
