Giants' Darren Waller announces retirement

New York Giants tight end Darren Waller officially announced his retirement from the NFL.

What It Means

Waller played eight seasons in the NFL, entering the league as a wide receiver for the Baltimore Ravens before successfully transitioning to the tight end position. He enjoyed a breakout 2019 campaign with the Oakland Raiders which saw him catch 90 passes for 1,145 yards and 3 touchdowns, and remained one of the league's most productive tight ends for several seasons afterwards.

Injuries unfortunately limited him over his final three seasons in the league, but the playmaking pass-catcher still tallied over 1,605 receiving yards in those shortened campaigns. He tallied 350 catches for 4,124 yards and 20 touchdowns over the course of his career.
