NFL Picks Today: Best NFL Late Slate Props and Predictions

Today’s Best Late Slate NFL Props in Summary

  • Ashton Jeanty Under 81.5 Rushing + Receiving Yards (-115)
  • Aaron Jones to Score a Touchdown (-165)

The NFL doesn’t end with the 1:00 ET slate of games. The NFL's late-afternoon Sunday slate offers a smaller group of games, but that does not mean there is a shortage of appealing betting opportunities.

Using our NFL projections as a guide, here are some NFL player props and betting picks we like for today’s late slate.

It’s been a rough start to the season for Ashton Jeanty and the Las Vegas Raiders‘ run game. It might get worse today versus the Kansas City Chiefs.

Through three weeks, Jeanty is averaging just 3.3 yards per carry. His average of 68.7 rushing yards per game doesn’t look too bad, but he’s needed a whopping 21.0 rushing attempts per game to get there. It’s not all Jeanty’s fault as he’s got just 1.6 yards before contact per carry, but he’s also been credited with only four broken tackles this year.

I don’t think it’s crazy to suggest that he might start losing touches to Mike Washington, who is averaging 6.8 yards per rush on 15 carries.

Jeanty has, however, added 32.3 receiving yards per game, so he’s averaging 101.0 rushing plus receiving yards per game. The market clearly thinks he’s going to be below that average, and I agree.

The Chiefs have been stingy on D through three games, permitting the third-fewest yards per play overall (4.7) and ranking in the top eight for fewest rushing yards and fewest catches allowed to RBs.

In a bad matchup against an elite defense and struggling mightily in the efficiency department, Jeanty should have a hard time clearing 81.5 rushing plus receiving yards unless he’s able to pop for a big play.

Aaron Jones to Score a TD (-165)

Dolphins vs. Vikings (4:05 p.m. ET)

Any Time Touchdown Scorer

Aaron Jones checks a lot of boxes.

The Minnesota Vikings are short-handed on offense, missing Jordan Mason and also likely to be without Justin Jefferson. That should funnel more volume Jones’ way. Sans Mason the last two weeks, Jones has played 80% and 81% of the snaps while handling a combined 40 carries and six targets.

Yes, please.

The matchup is an elite one as the Miami Dolphins have given up the fifth-most yards per play on defense and have already permitted three rushing touchdowns. Plus, the Vikings are 10.5-point favorites, which should lead to a run-heavy script.

These odds are steep, but the stage is set for Jones to have a field day.
