NFL DFS Week 7: Best Picks, Plays for FanDuel
Brock Purdy, QB, 49ers ($8,500)
Brock Purdy - Passing Yds
Brock Purdy carries the second-highest quarterback salary on the slate, but his efficiency makes him an appealing play against the Atlanta Falcons.
Through six starts, Purdy has completed 69.6% of his passes for 1,460 yards, 14 touchdowns and only 2 interceptions. He's produced multiple passing touchdowns in four of six outings. Purdy has also quietly supplied 156 rushing yards and a touchdown on 30 carries, giving him another path to fantasy points.
Atlanta has surrendered 1,612 passing yards and 10 passing touchdowns through six games while recording just one interception. That combination makes Purdy's efficiency and touchdown upside especially appealing, and pairing him with one of the San Francisco 49ers pass-catchers — more on that shortly — offers an obvious stacking route.
Puka Nacua, WR, Rams ($9,100)
Puka Nacua’s salary comes at a premium, but his target ceiling remains among the best of any receiver available on the main slate — assuming he’s able to play.
Nacua has collected 37 receptions for 417 yards on 52 targets through his first four appearances this season. He has already produced games of 125 and 138 receiving yards, and his monster outing against Buffalo featured 17 catches on an absurd 24 targets.
That kind of volume is difficult to find. Nacua doesn't need to rely solely on touchdowns or deep receptions to reach a ceiling outcome; sheer volume can get him there. His 104.3 receiving yards per game across those four appearances illustrates just how productive he's been when available, and he’s the Los Angeles Rams‘ clear top wideout with Davante Adams sidelined.
Against the Las Vegas Raiders, Puka is my favorite overall play on the slate.
Christian Watson, WR, Packers ($7,400)
Christian Watson - Receiving Yds
Christian Watson is an enticing midrange WR this week because his $7,400 salary doesn't fully reflect the ceiling he's demonstrated.
Watson enters a red-carpet matchup with the Detroit Lions sitting on 29 receptions for 538 yards and six touchdowns. He's averaging a massive 18.6 yards per catch, and his six receiving scores lead the Green Bay Packers.
The week-to-week production backs up the season-long numbers. Watson has already recorded games of 147, 96 and 143 receiving yards, and he's scored multiple touchdowns in a game twice. He’s also recorded at least eight targets in five of Green Bay's first six games, so he's getting enough volume to go along with his big-play ability.
That blend of downfield upside, touchdown production and a manageable salary makes Watson a strong option.
George Kittle, TE, 49ers ($6,500)
George Kittlestands out this week, particularly if you're using Purdy.
Kittle has hauled in 26 passes for 337 yards and five touchdowns this season. He's averaging 13.0 yards per reception, an excellent number for a tight end, and only Mike Evans has more receiving yards for San Francisco.
The recent volume has been encouraging, too. Kittle has received at least six targets in four straight games, including eight last week, and has posted at least 69 receiving yards in three of his past four. His five touchdowns through six games also provide the kind of scoring upside we want at a position where many alternatives are heavily dependent on finding the end zone.
At $6,500, Kittle offers both a strong individual ceiling and natural stacking correlation with Purdy.
Chris Godwin, WR, Buccaneers ($5,300)
At just $5,300, Chris Godwin Jr. stands out as an appealing value receiver for Sunday’s main slate. Godwin has just 23 catches for 216 receiving yards this season, but he saw eight targets last week, giving him an encouraging volume profile at this salary.
His quarterback situation should also improve this week. Baker Mayfield is expected to return after missing three games with a dislocated thumb, and he was a full participant in practice on both Wednesday and Thursday. Mayfield said his thumb is now strong enough to play, which would be a significant upgrade for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ passing attack.
The matchup with the Carolina Panthers has become more inviting for opposing receivers lately as Carolina has surrendered 32 catches for 403 receiving yards to wideouts over its past two games. That includes 102 yards to Jameson Williams in Week 4 and a 7-catch, 75-yard, 1-touchdown showing from DeVonta Smith last week.
Godwin could also see his target ceiling rise if Emeka Egbuka can't go. Egbuka is dealing with both a concussion and a foot injury and did not practice Wednesday or Thursday, putting his availability for Sunday in legitimate doubt.
