NFC East Odds: Cowboys and Eagles Enter as Joint Favorites

With football training camps on the horizon, now is a great time to dive into the robust futures markets via the NFL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Following free agency and the 2024 NFL Draft, FanDuel Sportsbook -- via their NFL odds -- offers markets for NFL win totals, odds to make the NFL playoffs, and NFL division odds among others. Although there could still be moves made before the 2024-25 campaign begins, let's dive into the odds and outlook for each team in the NFC East.

All NFL odds are from FanDuel Sportsbook, and they may change after this article is published.

Dallas Cowboys 2024 Outlook

Projected Win Total: 10.5 (+100 on the over)
Odds to Make the Playoffs: -245
Odds to Win the NFC East: +120
Odds to Win the NFC: +650
Odds to Win the Super Bowl: +1500 (8th-best)

Still touted as "America's Team," the Dallas Cowboys enter 2024 with expectations as lofty as they come. Notably, owner Jerry Jones, head coach Mike McCarthy and quarterback Dak Prescott are all back this season to take another swing at things.

At FanDuel Sportsbook, Dallas is labeled with +120 odds to win the NFC East. Ironically, that makes them a joint favorite in this market as the Philadelphia Eagles reflect the same price. However, the Cowboys (+650) are currently yielding shorter odds than Philly (+700) in the conference betting market.

Dallas was fairly stoic over the recent offseason. The 'Boys return the likes of All-Pro CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks within the receiving corps. Also, tailback Ezekiel Elliott will don the star once again after a campaign with the New England Patriots. Overall, can this group actually improve on last year's 29.9 PPG?

On the other side of the football, the Cowboys are still led by Leo-defender Micah Parsons. To complement his explosive efforts, edge rusher DeMarcus Lawrence is fierce off the left end. In the secondary, All-Pro cornerback Daron Bland will eventually be rejoined by Trevon Diggs (ACL); Diggs missed all but two games due to injury last season.

Philadelphia Eagles 2024 Outlook

Projected Win Total: 10.5 (-104 on the over)
Odds to Make the Playoffs: -210
Odds to Win the NFC East: +120
Odds to Win the NFC: +700
Odds to Win the Super Bowl: +1400 (T4h-best)

The Eagles are less than two years removed from losing a close Super Bowl to the Kansas City Chiefs. However, about two-thirds of the way through last campaign, Philadelphia's on-field production spiraled out of control.

To close 2023, the Birds lost six of their final seven contests -- including playoffs. To make matters worse, there were whispers that head coach Nick Sirianni had lost the locker room. Regardless, he'll get a chance to right the ship going forward. Notably, the acquisition of dynamic running back Saquon Barkley will go a long for Philly, especially when it comes to taking eyes off quarterback Jalen Hurts along with freeing up receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.

There was a considerable drop off in rushing efficiency for the Eagles last season, but their defensive backfield was even worse. A year ago, Philadelphia surrendered 267.7 passing yards per game, which was the NFL's fifth-worst clip. To address this, general manager Howie Roseman selected two star defensive backs -- Quinyon Mitchell (Toledo Rockets) and Cooper DeJean (Iowa Hawkeyes) -- early in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Considering that Philly's closest immediate competitor is the Cowboys, the Birds will need to be able to defend against high-flying passing attacks. As currently constructed, do the Eagles have enough?

As noted, Dallas has a shorter price than Philly to win the NFC, although the Eagles (+1400) are viewed more favorably in the Super Bowl betting market.

New York Giants 2024 Outlook

Projected Win Total: 6.5 (+122 on the over)
Odds to Make the Playoffs: +440
Odds to Win the NFC East: +1000
Odds to Win the NFC: +5000
Odds to Win the Super Bowl: +7500 (27th-best)

After the Birds and the 'Boys, there is a steep drop off in the NFC East. Frankly, not many are expecting the New York Giants to make significant noise in 2024.

Big Blue reached the playoffs in 2022 before finishing 6-11 last year. Be that as it may, New York has not won the division since Eli Manning and Tom Coughlin's Super Bowl XLVI team (2011). Simply, the Giants' current drought between NFC East titles is the longest active streak in this grouping.

As mentioned, New York recently lost Barkley to rival Philadelphia, but signal-caller Daniel Jones (ACL) will be back in the Big Apple. Admittedly, it is tough to gauge what an already-inconsistent Jones will look like after knee surgery.

I'm sure head coach Brian Daboll is excited to start acclimating his franchise quarterback with sixth-overall pick Malik Nabers (17.6 YPR in 2023). Like Odell Beckham, Nabers is another LSU Tigers star that has special big-play abilities; look for the rookie wideout to put pressure on NFL defenses.

On D, the G-Men have some intriguing players. Undeniably, New York boasts a fierce defensive front that includes Kayvon Thibodeaux, Brian Burns, Dexter Lawrence and Bobby Okereke. However, Big Blue gave up 132.4 rushing yards per game last campaign (fourth-worst in the NFL) .

FanDuel Sportsbook does not expect a surge from the Giants in the coming season, listing NYG's win total at only 6.5 games (+122/-150). Within the NFC East odds, New York shows a 10-to-1 listing.

Washington Commanders 2024 Outlook

Projected Win Total: 6.5 (-115 on the over)
Odds to Make the Playoffs: +300
Odds to Win the NFC East: +1000
Odds to Win the NFC: +5500
Odds to Win the Super Bowl: +8000 (T29th-best)

Like the G-Men, the Washington Commanders have quite a bit to figure out from an on-field perspective. Conversely, Washington is going through a sweeping organizational change. Daniel Snyder no longer owns the franchise, Ron Rivera is out as head coach, the GM was fired and quarterback Sam Howell was traded to the Seattle Seahawks.

Simply, a new era is being ushered into the nation's capital this season. Dan Quinn has earned another shot as a head coach while Adam Peters (fmr. San Francisco 49ers asst. GM) gets his first NFL general manager position. From there, the Commanders drafted 2023 Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels second overall to be Washington's signal-caller of the present and future.

For some continuity, wide receiver "Scary" Terry McLaurin is the team's top offensive option on the outside. McLaurin has posted four consecutive seasons of 1,000 yards, and he'll look to do so again with the dual-threat Daniels as his quarterback. To offer balance, halfback Austin Ekeler signed to the Commanders last March.

At FanDuel Sportsbook, Washington has the same 2024 win total as the Giants: 6.5. Still, the Commanders are listed with a much shorter (three-to-one) odds to make the NFL postseason than New York. With all that considered, both teams -- WAS and NYG -- show +1000 odds to take the NFC East this year. For those wondering, Washington last won the division in 2020.
