Claxton, the 31st overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, is "nearing plans" to sign a four-year, $100 million deal to remain with Brooklyn. Claxton has spent his entire career with the Nets and has started 147 games over the last two seasons.

In 71 appearances last season, Claxton averaged 11.8 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. In 2022-23 he finished fifth in voting for Most Improved Player and ninth in voting for Defensive Player of the Year.
