NBA Draft Odds: Will Bronny James Be Selected Before Pick 41?

The 2024 NBA Draft is right around the corner, and it's never too early to get in on the action at FanDuel Sportsbook.

With less than a week separating us from the draft, FanDuel Sportsbook is offering a market for Bronny James' draft position. As of Thursday, June 20th, Bronny's draft position line is set at 40.5.

Let's dive into the Bronny James Draft Position over/under via the NBA odds at FanDuel Sportsbook and break down when he could be drafted.

Bronny James Draft Position Over/Under

  • Over 40.5: -130
  • Under 40.5: -102

At -130 odds, Bronny James' being selected over pick 40.5 is the favorite for this market. Under pick 40.5 is priced at -102 odds.

After an uninspiring freshman season at USC that saw him average just 4.8 points and 2.1 assists per game, Bronny impressed at the NBA combine. He had the second-best shooting performance in the three-point drill while boasting the fourth-highest vertical leap. He profiles as a combo guard, standing at 6'1" and 210 pounds with a 6'7" wingspan.

Still, James doesn't have a first-round grade or even an early second-round grade. He's ranked 54th on ESPN's big board, 58th at The Ringer, and 55th at CBS Sports.

But Bronny isn't a traditional prospect. When your father is LeBron James, there are going to be more non-basketball-related factors in your draft process.

We've already seen that with Bronny only working out for two teams -- LeBron's Los Angeles Lakers and the Phoenix Suns.

LA has two picks, No. 17 and No. 55. Phoenix only has one pick at No. 22. The Lakers are the favorite to select Bronny at +125, with the Suns down at +550.

The Lakers could wait to take Bronny 55th, but Phoenix would have to snag him in the first round to acquire his services. That would go against most of the recent NBA mock drafts, however.

The Ringer's Kevin O'Connor has Bronny going 55th to LA, as does Bleacher Report's Jonathan Wasserman.

In either of those scenarios, the over for this market would hit.

But just because Bronny worked out for only the Suns and Lakers doesn't mean they're the only teams that could take him. The Minnesota Timberwolves (picks 27 and 37), Dallas Mavericks (58), and Toronto Raptors (19 and 31) all have +750 odds to draft Bronny. No other team has shorter than 30/1 odds.

The Timberwolves and Raptors could both cash the under for this market with either of their picks.

While Minnesota has "definite interest" in James, there's also been reporting that it's a "near lock that Bronny isn’t landing (there)."

Bronny's agent suggested that the Raptors could select Bronny 31st and that Toronto president Masai Ujiri "loves him."

If the Mavericks selected him, it would likely be 58th, pushing this market over. According to Bronny's Agent, Dallas' GM Nico Harrison is "like an uncle to Bronny."

The situation could still change a lot over the next week, and it wouldn't be surprising to see Bronny go earlier than expected. Right now, I would lean toward the over on Bronny James' draft position. But this is a weak draft, and we've seen more than our fair share of unexpected moves on draft night.
