Cardinals send Jordan Walker to Triple-A

The Cardinals decided to send Walker down after he dropped his batting average to .155 in Tuesday's 14-1 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks. They promoted infielder Jose Fermin from Memphis in a corresponding roster move. Ivan Herrera will replace Walker as the designated hitter on Wednesday and bat fifth against southpaw Jordan Montgomery. Alec Burleson could see an uptick in playing time moving forward, but the lefty hitter will not start against Arizona's southpaw.
