Padres manager Mike Shildt told media members that the star outfielder is dealing with pain while decelerating as well as while in motion, so the team is officially moving to shut him down until he can recover properly from his elbow and quad injuries. The team offered no timetable for his return to the field, but the .500 Padres could use him back sooner rather than later as they attempt to nab a spot in the playoffs.
