MLB Same Game Parlay Bets for Monday 7/8/24

Colorado Rockies at Cincinnati Reds

Ryan Feltner Under 5.5 Strikeouts (-156)
Andrew Abbott to Record 5+ Strikeouts (-295)
Jeimer Candelario to Record 2+ Total Bases (-110)

Combined Odds: +298

Ryan Feltner is entering his 18th start of the season for the Colorado Rockies, with a 4.01 xFIP and 4.13 SIERA up to this point. Even though Feltner's swinging strike rate is a formidable 10.4%, he ranks in the 31st percentile in chase rate (26.5%), 37th percentile in whiff rate (23.4%), and 30th percentile in strikeout rate (19.3%).

While the Cincinnati Reds own the third-highest strikeout rate (26.0%) against right-handed pitching, Feltner has tallied six-plus Ks in only six of his 17 starts. Feltner has never eclipsed a 20% strikeout rate in his first three seasons as a starter, so it's fair to suggest he doesn't possess much upside in that department.

After logging an impressive 26.1% strikeout rate as a rookie in 2023, Andrew Abbott is recording just a 18.5% strikeout rate through 17 starts in 2024. There is reason for optimism for Abbott when it comes to Ks -- especially when the Rockies have five players in Monday's projected lineup who have a 30.2% strikeout rate or higher versus southpaws.

Additionally, Colorado has registered the 12th-worst wOBA (.308), 8th-worst wRC+ (84), and 2nd-highest strikeout rate (29.2%) against lefties in the last 30 days. Given Abbott's inconsistencies this year, we'll take his alternate strikeouts line instead of taking the over of 5.5.

With Feltner permitting a .378 wOBA, 1.57 WHIP, 1.57 HR/9, and only a 17.8% strikeout rate to left-handed hitters, Jeimer Candelario could be in store for a notable outing. Candelario is posting a .392 wOBA or higher and a .296 ISO or higher versus Feltner's two primary pitches (four-seam fastball and changeup) against left-handed hitters.

Ahead of Monday's contest, Candelario is being given +450 odds to hit a home run.

Minnesota Twins at Chicago White Sox

Byron Buxton to Record an RBI (+105)
Brooks Lee to Record 2+ Total Bases (+135)

Combined Odds: +366

Chris Flexen is expected to be on the mound for the Chicago White Sox, putting all of the bats on the Minnesota Twins in a fantastic spot. Over the last 30 days, the Twins boast the best wOBA (.366), best wRC+ (139), seventh-best ISO (.185), and the lowest strikeout rate (16.6%) against right-handed pitching.

The bottom half of Minnesota's batting order has been extremely productive recently, which is why Byron Buxton and Brooks Lee are intriguing players to target in this SGP. Buxton is currently on a stretch where he's notched two-plus hits in 7 of his last 11 contests -- including each of his last three appearances.

In addition, Buxton is carrying a .354 ISO or higher and a .456 wOBA or higher versus Flexen's two primary pitches (four-seam fastball and cutter) versus right-handed hitters. Those metrics aren't a surprise with Buxton going 7-for-9 with three doubles and two homers -- with zero strikeouts -- in his career when facing Flexen.

Lee is an exciting prospect for the Twins, and he's certainly flashing upside in his first few games in the majors. Despite Lee appearing in only five games thus far, he's totaled two-plus bases in all four of the games he received four-plus ABs.

Hitting at the bottom of the order hasn't been an issue for Lee while he could reach five-plus ABs on Monday if Minnesota can get to Flexen. Buxton is holding +280 odds to hit a home run while Lee has +700 odds in the same market.

Texas Rangers at Los Angeles Angels

Jon Gray Under 4.5 Strikeouts (+104)
Logan O'Hoppe to Record a Hit (-200)
Wyatt Langford to Record a Hit (-220)

Combined Odds: +294

It has been a rough stretch of games for Jon Gray recently, making the under on his strikeouts prop enticing. Ahead of his 16th start of the campaign for the Texas Rangers, Gray has given up 20 combined earned runs -- including two starts of allowing eight-plus earned runs -- across his last four contests.

On top of that, Gray is sitting in the 24th percentile in xERA (4.65), 10th percentile in xBA (.280), 20th percentile in barrel rate (9.6%), and 12th percentile in hard-hit rate (44.6%). That has led to Gray recording fewer than five Ks in each of his last eight appearances.

FanDuel Research's daily projections have Gray finishing with only 4.22 strikeouts on Monday.

Given Gray's recent woes, backing one of the hottest hitters from the Los Angeles Angels -- Logan O'Hoppe -- isn't the worst idea. O'Hoppe is sporting a .365 wOBA, 136 wRC+, and .196 ISO versus right-handed pitchers in 2024.

The young backstop for the Angels has also tallied at least one hit in 9 of his last 12 games. With winds slightly blowing out to center, it's worth mentioning that O'Hoppe has +420 odds to hit a home run.

Davis Daniel is projected to make his third start for the Angels, and he's showing reverse splits in a small sample size. In his first two starts, Daniel is allowing a .356 wOBA and 2.84 HR/9 to righties, compared to a .170 wOBA and 0.00 HR/9 to lefties.

Wyatt Langford is among the right-handed bats on the Rangers who has been seeing the ball well as of late. The rookie outfielder has logged at least one hit in eight of his last nine contests while hitting in the middle of Texas' lineup.
