Here at FanDuel Research, we're going to provide some SGPs builds to consider based on the games and props available for today, but there are plenty more popular parlay ideas available at FanDuel's Parlay Hub, too!

MLB Same Game Parlay Bets for Friday 5/24/24

Kansas City Royals at Tampa Bay Rays

Seth Lugo Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-142)
Tampa Bay Rays Alternate Total Runs: Under 4.5 (-194)
Maikel Garcia to Record a Hit (-260)

Combined Odds: +210

Seth Lugo has been extremely impressive for the Kansas City Royals in 2024, producing a formidable 3.61 SIERA and 3.56 xFIP through his first 10 starts. Despite being in the 51st percentile in strikeout rate (22.7%), Lugo has tallied eight-plus Ks in four of his last five outings.

Pitching deep into games has helped Lugo rack up strikeouts at a high clip in recent starts, and he should have success versus the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday. Lugo has pitched six-plus innings in eight of his 10 appearances on the mound this year.

Meanwhile, the Rays are registering the ninth-highest strikeout rate (24.0%) against right-handed pitching. Tampa Bay is also sporting the 12th-lowest wRC+ (96), 5th-lowest wOBA (.297), and 3rd-lowest ISO (.121) when facing right-handed pitchers.

Along with taking Lugo to tally six-plus strikeouts, we'll take the experienced right-hander to help limit the Rays to fewer than five runs. Lugo has given up two or fewer earned runs in nine of his 10 starts while Tampa Bay has lost four straight games and has scored fewer than five runs in six of their last nine contests.

With Shawn Armstrong expected to open the game for the Rays, we'll side with Maikel Garcia to record a hit for the Royals. Garcia is amid a 10-game hit streak with four multi-hit outings in his last five appearances.

Armstrong has yet to pitch more than two innings in a game this season, so it's worth noting that Tampa Bay's bullpen is allowing the sixth-highest SIERA (4.00), fourth-highest xFIP (4.52), and second-highest HR/9 (1.35). Given Lugo and Garcia's positive matchups versus the Rays, it's worth checking out FanDuel Sportsbook's 30% profit boost for MLB SGPs on Friday.

Philadelphia Phillies at Colorado Rockies

J.T. Realmuto to Record a Run (-220)
Alec Bohm to Record an RBI (-125)
First 5 Innings Result: Philadelphia Phillies (-154)

Combined Odds: +232

Ty Blach will be the starting pitcher for the Colorado Rockies on Friday when the Philadelphia Phillies come to town to begin a three-game series. Although it's been just three starts -- and six appearances -- for Blach this season, he is in the 12th percentile in xERA (5.44), 1st percentile in xBA (.327), 1st percentile in strikeout rate (11.4%), 42nd percentile in barrel rate (8.1%), and 38th percentile in hard-hit rate (40.5%).

Those metrics could get Blach in trouble against a Phillies team that is posting the fourth-highest wOBA (.340) and fifth-highest wRC+ (120) versus left-handed pitching. With Blach permitting a .421 wOBA, .544 SLG, and 2.17 WHIP to righties, the first player prop we'll take in this SGP is J.T. Realmuto to record a run.

Realmuto has been consistently hitting second against southpaws with Trea Turner still sidelined, and he's on a seven-game hit streak entering Friday's contest. The versatile catcher has tallied at least one run in five of his last six games while recording a .436 wOBA, .231 ISO, and 186 wRC+ versus left-handed pitching.

Aside from Realmuto, Alec Bohm is another right-handed bat who should have success versus Blach. Bohm has at least one hit in eight of his last nine outings, along with combining for 13 RBIs in that span.

While Blach is a below-average starter, the Phillies will trot out Cristopher Sanchez. Sanchez is posting a solid 3.10 xFIP and 3.43 SIERA with a career-best 18.5% fly-ball rate in his first nine starts in 2024. Given Sanchez's ability to keep the ball on the ground, and Blach's concerning numbers, we'll take Philadelphia to secure a lead in the first five innings.

Besides producing a tremendous 17-3 record in May thus far, Philly has jumped out to a lead in the first five innings in 14 of their 20 games this month.

Cleveland Guardians at Los Angeles Angels

Logan Allen Under 4.5 Strikeouts (-128)
Luis Rengifo to Record a Hit (-240)
Kevin Pillar to Record a Hit (-190)

Combined Odds: +240

Throughout his first 10 starts this year, Logan Allen hasn't shown much strikeout potential for the Cleveland Guardians. Aside from his last outing where he recorded seven Ks versus the Minnesota Twins, Allen tallied fewer than five strikeouts in six of his appearances.

At the moment, Allen is in just the 18th percentile in chase rate (24.5%), 31st percentile in whiff rate (22.6%), and 33rd percentile in strikeout rate (19.5%). Even though Mike Trout has been out of the lineup recently, the Los Angeles Angels have been an above-average team at the plate, which is why they are one of my favorite teams to stack in MLB DFS on Friday.

On the season, the Angels boast the ninth-lowest strikeout rate (20.3%) versus southpaws. Los Angeles is also logging the sixth-highest wOBA (.337) and seventh-highest wRC+ (117) when facing left-handed pitching.

It's worth noting that Allen is allowing a .373 wOBA, .512 SLG, .350 OBP, and 1.48 WHIP to right-handed hitters to begin the campaign.

One player who has helped the Angels perform well against lefties is Luis Rengifo. The switch-hitting infielder is tallying a .462 wOBA, .600 SLG, and 202 wRC+ in his first 26 plate appearances versus left-handed pitchers in 2024.

Aside from Rengifo, veteran Kevin Pillar has supplied a spark in the Angels' offense sans Trout. Pillar is registering a .471 wOBA, .656 SLG, and 208 wRC+ in 36 plate appearances against lefties this season, and he is currently on an eight-game hit streak.
