Euro 2024 Betting Picks

England vs. Switzerland (12 p.m. ET)

England Moneyline (+120)

If I told you a few weeks ago that England would be just +120 to win a knockout game against Switzerland, you'd have some questions. But that's where we are as England has put forth four blah showings -- especially in attack -- in this tournament.

Banking on the Three Lions to turn it up a notch is a little bit of a leap of faith, but I'm rolling with them to find a way to get a win in regulation on Saturday.

While England's attack has been painfully boring, they're still playing well defensively. In three group stage matches, they conceded a total of only 1.1 expected goals (xG), per FBRef's xG model, although they allowed 2.2 xG to Slovakia in the Round of 16.

Switzerland has been solid so far, but they've also benefitted from a pretty friendly slate of games, getting group-stage matches versus Scotland and Hungary while they took part in a Round-of-16 game against a woefully out-of-form Italy side. Against Germany, they lost 1.6-0.6 on xG despite a 1-1 tie. That's been their only clash against top-notch competition.

There are reports that England manager Gareth Southgate is set to shake things up in an effort to ignite a lackluster attack, possibly changing to three at the back. If England can keep their defensive prowess while generating a few more chances, they'll start to resemble the English side of the previous tourneys.

Prop Bet

Memphis Depay to Score or Assist (-120): While there's not a standard market I love in the Netherlands-Turkey match, I like this line a lot. Depay has been very active for the Netherlands and was unlucky not to score or assist last time out, amassing 0.9 combined expected goals plus expected assists via four shots and five shot-creating actions.

Turkey has given up at least 1.4 xG in every match this tourney, including 3.1 xG to Austria in the Round of 16. The Dutch should create chances, and Memphis will likely continue to play a key role.
