Georgia vs Alabama Prediction and Picks
Over 50.5 Points (-108)
Total Points
I'm siding with the offenses in this matchup.
The Georgia Bulldogs have scored at least 38 points in all five games this season, including 41 against Oklahoma and 45 on the road at Arkansas. The Bulldogs are averaging 478.8 total yards per game, with 265.8 through the air and 213.0 on the ground.
Gunner Stockton has been exceptionally efficient, completing 75.5% of his passes for 1,049 yards and 13 touchdowns against just one interception.
The Alabama Crimson Tide have been even more consistent from a scoring standpoint, topping 45 points in all five games. The Crimson Tide are coming off a 56-23 road win over Mississippi State in which they accumulated 483 total yards, including 304 through the air.
Keelon Russell gives Alabama plenty of big-play ability. He threw for 285 yards and three touchdowns last week, and Alabama's offense has scored 49 or more points in each of its past three games.
These are two good defenses, but I think the offenses will wear down the defenses and rack up points.
Keelon Russell Anytime Touchdown (+135)
Russell's legs have become an important part of Alabama's offense, making him an intriguing touchdown target in a game where the Tide may need every possible scoring avenue.
Russell has recorded 32 rushing attempts for 168 yards and three touchdowns this season. He scored on the ground against East Carolina, Florida State, South Carolina and Mississippi State, with his latest rushing touchdown coming on a 17-yard run last week.
His rushing upside has also shown up against stronger competition. Russell ran for 56 yards and a touchdown against FSU and followed that with 35 yards and another score against South Carolina.
Georgia's defense is obviously a much tougher test than most of Alabama's previous opponents, but a close game could actually work in Russell's favor. Alabama is unlikely to be able to take its foot off the gas, and Russell should remain involved as both a designed runner and scrambler near the goal line.
With his combination of mobility and red-zone usage, Russell is the Alabama player I most want exposure to in the TD market.
College Football Betting FAQ
What are the most common college football bets?
The most common college football bets are the point spread, moneyline, and game total. Bettors can also wager on player props, team totals, alternate spreads, and futures such as conference champions or the national championship winner.
How does the point spread work in college football betting?
The point spread gives one team a handicap to create a more even betting market. If a team is listed at -7.5, it must win by at least eight points for a spread bet on that team to cash. A team listed at +7.5 can lose by seven points or fewer — or win outright — and still cover the spread.
What does over/under mean in college football?
An over/under, also called a game total, is a wager on the combined number of points scored by both teams. Bettors can choose whether the final score will finish over or under the sportsbook's posted total.
What should you consider before betting on college football?
Matchups, quarterback play, offensive and defensive efficiency, injuries, pace, home-field advantage, and coaching tendencies can all be important.
