Portugal vs. Georgia Analysis

Portugal came into the tourney as one of the favorites, and they're performed very well through two matches, beating the Czech Republic 2-1 and Turkey 3-0.

The expected goals (xG) data -- per FBRef's xG model -- looks good, too, as Portugal have amassed exactly 1.9 xG in each match while conceding 0.4 and 0.7 xG through two rounds.

Georgia, competing in their first ever major tournament, have played two entertaining matches -- a 3-1 loss to Turkey and a 1-1 draw with the Czech Republic.

Going by xG, they're very lucky to have a point. They've been solid in attack, registering 1.1 and 1.4 xG in their outings, but they've been torched defensively, conceding exactly 3.0 xG in both matches. And now they play one of the best attacking sides in the tourney, although Portugal have already locked up a spot in the knockouts, which could result in them resting a few players.

MasseyRatings also sees Portugal as a big favorite, projecting Bernardo Silva, Bruno Fernandes and company to win 67% of the time.

Looking at the Euro 2024 odds at FanDuel Sportsbook, Portugal's -280 moneyline is steep, but it appears to be justified. The -280 odds imply win odds of 73.7% -- in between what the two aforementioned models project.
