Dunk Contest Betting: Mac McClung Favored to Repeat

The NBA All-Star Weekend festivities are set to take place this weekend in Indianapolis. Between the Three-Point Contest -- which our Aidan McGrath covered earlier this week -- Slam Dunk Contest, and All-Star Game, there are plenty of ways to get in on the action via the NBA odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.
The Slam Dunk Contest caps off Saturday's events, and it features four of the Association's highest flyers. Defending champion Mac McClung is the heavy favorite, but Jaylen Brown, Jacob Toppin, and Jaime Jaquez Jr. are all capable dunkers themselves.
Let's dive into the Dunk Contest betting odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
Dunk Contest Betting Odds
Dunk Contest Winner | Odds |
---|---|
Mac McClung | -190 |
Jaylen Brown | +420 |
Jacob Toppin | +600 |
Jaime Jaquez Jr. | +650 |
Mac McClung (-190)
Mac McClung won last year's Slam Dunk Contest, and he's the heavy favorite to repeat this weekend, listing at -190 odds.
McClung has become well-known for his high-flying slams, even dating back to high school. The 6'2" guard has since bounced around the G-league, but he did appear in two games for the Philadelphia 76ers last season.
He has yet to make an NBA appearance this year, though that hasn't stopped him from dunking all over the G-League with the Osceola Magic.
McClung dominated last year's event, receiving perfect scores on three of his four dunks. He completed all four dunks on the first attempt, and it's easy to see why he was crowned champion.

Despite the strong showing, McClung reportedly still has some tricks up his sleeve. He's the favorite for a reason, and it wouldn't surprise anyone to see him win the dunk contest again on Saturday night.
Jaylen Brown (+420)
Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown is one of the biggest names in years to enter the dunk contest. Brown is the first All-Star to participate in the event since Victor Oladipo in 2018.
The 6'6" forward has recorded 58 dunks for the Celtics this season, ninth-most among non-big men. In the process, Brown's provided more than his fair share of highlight-worthy slams.

Despite having the second-shortest odds to win the dunk contest, Brown is still a considerable underdog on FanDuel Sportsbook, but his in-game dunks and flair make him an intriguing bet to take home the crown.
Jacob Toppin (+600)
McClung isn't the only G-Leaguer participating in Saturday night's event, as the Westchester Knicks' Jacob Toppin has the third-best odds to win the dunk contest.
Toppin played four years of college ball, breaking out as a senior at Kentucky. He flashed some serious hops at UK, notably winning their team dunk contest prior to the 2021-22 season. He went undrafted this past summer but is on a two-way contract with the New York Knicks.
He's appeared in four NBA games this season, completing three dunks over 33 minutes of action.
Toppin stands at 6'8", and he recorded a 45-inch vertical leap at Kentucky's pro day in 2022. That's help him collect an extensive highlight reel with the Knicks' G-League affiliate.

Seeing a Toppin in the dunk contest isn't new. Jacob's older brother, Obi Toppin, has participated in the event twice, winning it in 2022. It's safe to say that dunking is in Jacob Toppin's genes, and he's an interesting long shot to win this weekend's event.
Jaime Jaquez Jr. (+650)
Miami Heat wing Jaime Jaquez Jr. has the longest odds to win it, but the rookie is no stranger to rim-rattling slams.
A four-year player at UCLA, Jaquez has proven to be one of the biggest steals in the draft. Miami selected him 18th overall, and he's tied for fourth among rookies with 12.9 points per game.
Jaquez has recorded 24 dunks this season, also fourth among rookies.
Despite Jaquez's underdog status, this wouldn't be the first time he won a dunk contest. He participated in several high school dunk contests, notably beating out past dunk contest participant Kenyon Martin Jr. and NFL wide receiver Drake London back in 2019.

At 6'6" with a 39-inch vertical leap, Jaquez certainly has the build to compete in the dunk contest. He's a fun underdog to consider this weekend; one you can get at +650 odds to win the dunk contest.
