College Football Predictions, Picks for Saturday
Missouri +2.5 (+100)
Texas at Missouri — 12:00 p.m. ET
Spread
The Missouri Tigers have put together a strong season, and I like them getting points at home against the Texas Longhorns.
Missouri's defense has been excellent, surrendering just 18.4 points and 98.4 rushing yards per game. That should be particularly important against a Texas offense that ranks just 102nd nationally in rushing yards per game (134.3) and 91st in total offense (358.4 yards per game). The Tigers have the defense to give Arch Manning fits, especially with this game in Columbia.
The Tigers also have a significant advantage in turnover margin. Missouri enters with a plus-eight differential, ranking eighth nationally, while Texas sits at minus-three. That's particularly noteworthy in a matchup with such a narrow spread as any turnovers will be big.
Missouri has already recorded convincing home victories over Florida (45-17) and Texas A&M (27-6). Texas certainly has the defensive talent to make this difficult, but Missouri's ability to limit rushing production and generate turnovers makes the Tigers an appealing home underdog.
Ohio State -7.5 (-110)
Oregon at Ohio State — 3:30 p.m. ET
Spread
The Ohio State Buckeyes are looking to rebound from a disappointing 30-18 loss to USC, and a home matchup against the Oregon Ducks provides an opportunity to get back on track.
Ohio State has been extremely impressive at Ohio Stadium this season, winning its four home games by margins of 53, 56, 23, and 29 points. The Buckeyes have also demonstrated that they can handle quality Big Ten competition, picking up road victories against Iowa and Indiana. Of course, they no longer have Julian Sayin, but even in the loss at USC, Ohio State had 464 total yards of offense, so they moved the ball plenty well.
Oregon enters with a 5-3 record and has struggled to meet betting expectations, covering the spread in only three of its eight games. The Ducks have also lost three games away from home, adding to the difficulty of Saturday's trip to Columbus, and they’re also starting a backup QB in Dylan Raiola, who has been inconsistent since taking over for Dante Moore.
The Buckeyes have enough defensive talent to create problems for Oregon and Raiola. With the Buckeyes likely needing to win out to make the CFP, I expect them to come out and play really well against the Ducks.
Oklahoma-Florida Under 44.5 (-104)
Oklahoma at Florida — 7:45 p.m. ET
Total Points
Saturday night's SEC matchup between the Oklahoma Sooners and Florida Gators could turn into a defensive battle, pushing me toward the under.
Oklahoma has struggled to find offensive consistency this season, averaging just 22.0 points per game. The Sooners have been held to 15 or fewer points in four of their eight contests, including scoring just 13 against Kentucky and 10 against Michigan. Oklahoma's defense has been considerably more effective, allowing 20.8 points and 304.6 total yards per game.
Florida has a more productive offense, averaging 35.6 points per game, but the Gators have struggled against stronger competition. They've scored 19 or fewer points in three of their last four games, including just eight in last week's loss to Georgia. That downturn in offensive production is encouraging for the under.
With Oklahoma struggling to generate scoring opportunities and Florida facing a stout Sooners D, this matchup has the ingredients for a relatively low-scoring affair.
College Football Betting FAQ
