Champions League Picks Today: UCL Predictions

Liverpool Moneyline (-140)

Liverpool vs. Atletico Madrid, 3 p.m. ET

Liverpool at this number is something I can get behind.

The Reds have won their most recent Premier League match, a 2-0 victory at Ipswich on September 4, while Atlético is coming off a 3-0 loss to Athletic Club. Atlético has shown more attacking potential this season with players such as Ademola Lookman and Julián Alvarez, but that heavy defeat just four days before this match is concerning ahead of a difficult trip to Anfield.

Liverpool's projected lineup is particularly appealing, with Alexander Isak expected to start up front alongside a talented attacking group that includes Florian Wirtz and Bradley Barcola — with it likely being Barcola’s first start for the Reds.

With the Anfield crowd at their backs, the Reds can start their UCL campaign with a win.

Napoli vs. Arsenal Under 2.5 Goals (-110)

Napoli vs. Arsenal, 3 p.m. ET

This is my favorite total on Wednesday's slate.

Arsenal has started the season extremely well, winning all of its matches this season — including a 3-0 triumph over Man City in the Community Shield — while allowing just one goal during that stretch. The Gunners just beat Chelsea 2-1 at home and previously defeated Aston Villa 1-0 on the road, illustrating how comfortable this team has been playing in lower-scoring matches.

Napoli is coming off back-to-back losses, including a 3-2 defeat at Inter on September 5, and the underlying matchup should encourage Arsenal to play patiently. This is the type of European road game where Mikel Arteta is unlikely to want his team trading chances unnecessarily.

While Napoli is a tough matchup, Arsenal look like the best defensive side in Europe, even with William Saliba out. The Gunners can help keep this match under 2.5 goals.

What is a moneyline bet in soccer?

A moneyline bet is a wager on which team will win the match. Because soccer matches can end in a draw, most moneyline markets include three options: the home team, the away team, or a draw.

What does “draw no bet” mean?

Draw no bet removes the draw as a losing outcome. If the match ends tied, your wager is refunded. If your team wins, the bet wins.

What is a soccer total?

A total is a bet on how many combined goals will be scored in a match. For example, an Over 2.5 Goals bet wins if at least three goals are scored.

What does “both teams to score” mean?

Both Teams to Score, often abbreviated BTTS, is a wager on whether each team will score at least one goal during the match.
