3 Players to Sell High in Fantasy Football Entering Week 6

Week 6 Fantasy Sell High Candidates at a Glance

  • Jaylen Warren, RB, Steelers
  • Jacory Croskey-Merritt, RB, Commanders
  • Jared Goff, QB, Lions

Knowing when to trade away a productive player can be just as important as identifying someone to buy low in fantasy football. While it's tempting to hold on to players who have helped your team get off to a strong start, selling high on someone whose production may be unsustainable can be a great way to improve your roster for the long haul.

With five weeks of the NFL season in the books, several players have exceeded expectations, and their trade values have risen accordingly. However, not all of these players are necessarily positioned to maintain their current production, whether it's because of changing workloads, touchdown regression, or other factors.

With that in mind, let's break down five players worth considering as sell-high candidates entering Week 6 of the NFL season.

Sell High Candidates in Fantasy Football

Jaylen Warren has been fantastic for fantasy managers, but his recent production could make this an ideal time to explore the trade market.

The Pittsburgh Steelers‘ running back is coming off a career-best 36.8-point fantasy performance, and he's amassed 321 rushing yards since Week 3. However, Rico Dowdle has been sidelined by a foot injury, and Dowdle’s eventual return could result in a more balanced backfield that limits Warren's opportunities.

Warren should remain a productive fantasy option even once Dowdle returns, but managers might be able to capitalize on his recent explosion to acquire a more established workhorse running back.

Jacory Croskey-Merritt, RB, Commanders

Jacory Croskey-Merritt delivered one of his best performances of the season in Week 5, rushing for 82 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries against the New York Giants. However, the Washington Commanders‘ backfield remains crowded, with Rachaad White and Austin Ekeler also competing for touches.

Croskey-Merritt's limited receiving involvement further complicates his fantasy outlook, as he could struggle to produce consistently without finding the end zone.

With JCM coming off an encouraging performance, this could be a good opportunity to move him before the uncertainty surrounding his workload becomes a bigger concern.

Jared Goff, QB, Lions

NFC North Winner 2026-27
Minnesota Vikings
Detroit Lions
Chicago Bears
Green Bay Packers

Jared Goff has been outstanding for fantasy managers, averaging 23.0 fantasy points per game through five weeks and ranking as the QB3 on a points-per-game basis. However, the Detroit Lions‘ quarterback has historically been a nothing in the rushing department, making it difficult for him to consistently match the ceiling of the league's top dual-threat quarterbacks.

Goff's current scoring pace could also be difficult to sustain if his touchdown rate of 6.3% — which is the second-best clip of his career — regresses as the season progresses.

Fantasy managers who can acquire a quarterback with more rushing upside or address another roster weakness should consider exploring Goff's trade value.

Fantasy Football Sell-High Candidates FAQ

What does "sell high" mean in fantasy football?

Selling high means trading a player when their perceived fantasy value may be greater than their expected value going forward. This often happens after a player posts a big game, scores multiple touchdowns, or benefits from an unusually favorable matchup.

When should you sell high on a fantasy football player?

The best time to sell high is typically after a strong performance that could be difficult to repeat. Fantasy managers should consider factors such as playing time, touches, targets, touchdown dependency, upcoming matchups, and competition for opportunities before deciding whether a player's production is sustainable.

Should you always trade a sell-high candidate?

No. Identifying someone as a sell-high candidate doesn't necessarily mean you should trade that player at any cost. The goal is to take advantage of elevated trade value, so it makes sense to hold unless another manager is willing to offer what you deem to be a worthwhile return.

What should you look for in a sell-high fantasy football candidate?

Potential sell-high candidates can include players whose fantasy production significantly exceeds their underlying usage. A high touchdown rate, limited snap share, low target volume, declining workload, or an upcoming stretch of difficult matchups can all be reasons to explore a trade.
