Kevin Fiala To Score a Goal (+195)
The Los Angeles Kings have a huge 3.78 implied goal total against the Columbus Blue Jackets and it should feature plenty of offense.
The Kings are one of the best teams in the league but are going slightly overlooked in some ways since they don't have a true 'superstar' player. What they do have is a ton of really strong players that are consistent on a nightly basis.
Over the last two weeks, the Kings are scoring 2.94 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the eighth-best in the league. They also come in with 66.34 Shot Attempts Created in the same situations, which is the fifth-best in the league. No matter how you slice it, they're a strong offensive team.
For the Blue Jackets, things are much of the same this season as we've since over the last few years. They are allowing 3.04 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the fifth-worst in the league.
This leads us to Kevin Fiala for a goal tonight, a winger on the second forward line and the first power-play unit. Fiala got off to a slow start this season and has 6 goals in 21 games played, however, five of those goals have come over the last nine games.
He's averaging 3.2 shots on goal per game in this nine-game stretch and has really upped his shot creation and offensive pressure. With this soft matchup, he should be able to keep that going and look to find the back of the net.
Nathan MacKinnon Over 5.5 Shots on Goal (+118)
After a few rough losses, the Colorado Avalanche are primed for a big bounceback game tonight against the Anaheim Ducks.
As -310 moneyline favorites and a slate-high 4.01 implied goal total, things are pretty straightforward for the Avalanche tonight. That means we turn to their best player, Nathan MacKinnon and look for him to pile up the shots tonight.
As per usual with the Avalanche, they like to keep their foot on the gas and apply a ton of offensive pressure. They come in with 63.66 Shot Attempts created per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the seventh-best in the league this season.
MacKinnon is averaging 4.6 shots on goal per game this season, or a total of 111 shots, which is good for the third-most in the league. He's a high-volume shooter and in just his last 10 games he's hit six, seven, seven, and eight shots on goal.
The Avs need to break this losing streak and look for MacKinnon to lead the way.
Filip Forsberg To Record 5+ Shots on Goal (+130)
A matchup with one of the best shooters in the league against a weak defense is something we love to see.
That player would be Filip Forsberg and that weak defense would be the Chicago Blackhawks. A total of 97 shots on goal for Forsberg puts him as the sixth-most in the NHL, giving him an average of 4.04 per game.
His role on the first forward line and the first power-play unit helps funnel the shots in his direction, which is why he has 39 more shots on goal than the next forward on the Nashville Predators.
This season, the Blackhawks are in the bottom five of the league in Total Shot Attempts Allowed (64.9) and actual Shots on Goal (33.12), both per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations.
Forsberg has hit five shots on goal in five of his last 10 games and with this matchup he should be able to do it again.
