Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy hockey on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some NHL player props bets that look appealing via the NHL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

NHL Prop Bets

Filip Forsberg To Score a Goal (+150)

The Nashville Predators have a 3.15 implied goal total and a good matchup against the Minnesota Wild.

The Wild have been very up and down this season and right now they are in a down-swing. Over the last two weeks, the Wild have allowed 3.47 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the second-worst in the NHL.

This presents a great matchup to target and it leads me to Filip Forsberg, who has a very solid 22 goals through 47 games this season, but no goals in his last five games. He continues to skate on the first forward line and the first power-play for the Predators, which has allowed him to rack up 21 shots on goal over these last five games.

Nothing has changed for Forsberg yet, he hasn't been able to find the back of the net in recent outings. Given the favorable matchup against the Wild and the odds for a goal, Forsberg is a prime target tonight.

Joe Pavelski Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (+100)

A big 3.98 implied goal total for the Dallas Stars makes them an obvious target for player props tonight.

If a team is set to be scoring a ton of goals, they're likely taking a ton of shots along the way. That is what we should see for the Stars tonight against the lowly Anaheim Ducks.

Over the last two weeks, the Ducks are allowing 64.88 Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the ninth-worst in the league. During that same time, the Stars are producing 63.46 Total Shot Attempts, which is the 10th highest in the league.

This should be a one-sided matchup tonight and it brings me to Joe Pavelski, who is on the third forward line and the first power-play unit for the Stars. Over his last 10 games, he has 22 shots on goal, which should be elevated with this soft matchup.

Zach Hyman Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (-114)

A slate-high 4.41 implied goal total for the Edmonton Oilers has them as the top option tonight.

The Oilers are unstoppable right now on a massive 14-game winning streak, which they will look to continue tonight versus the Chicago Blackhawks. The Oilers haven't lost a game since December 19th, making them the hottest team in the league by a mile.

When it comes to Chicago, they continue to struggle on defense, and over the last two weeks, they have allowed a league-worst 69.26 Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations.

We flip to the Oilers over that same time and they are producing 66.33 Total Shot Attempts, which is the seventh-best in the NHL.

This is as straightforward as you can imagine, so I'll look to Zach Hyman , who has 38 shots on goal over his last 10 games, is averaging 3.7 shots per game, and coming off a game where he had just 2 shots on goal. A clear bounce-back spot for a high-volume shooter.
