3 NHL Player Prop Bets to Target on Monday 12/4/23
Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy baseball on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.
Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some NHL player props bets that look appealing via the NHL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.
Please note that betting lines and numberFire's projections may change throughout the day after this article is published. Also, the weather may be an issue in some locations.
Evgeni Malkin To Score a Goal (+170)
The Pittsburgh Penguins have a 3.33 implied goal total against their in-state rivals, the Philadelphia Flyers.
The Penguins lost to the Flyers 4-3 just two days ago and I'm seeing this as a bounceback spot for them. Let's turn to the goal market with Evgeni Malkin to find the back of the net.
Malkin is on the second forward line and the first power-play, coming in with a total of 10 goals, 11 assists, and 58 shots on goal in 23 games this season. Despite having at least two shots on goal in each of his last six games, Malkin has just one goal in that time.
The matchup versus the Flyers is a good one, as their defense has started to slip over the last two weeks and is now allowing 2.81 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the 11th worst in the league.
For the Penguins, they are taking 65.20 Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations over the last two weeks, which is the seventh-best in the league. They are constantly pushing the pace on offense and with this weak defense, Malkin should have plenty of chances to find the back of the net.
Oliver Bjorkstrand Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (+128)
The Seattle Kraken have an elite matchup versus the Montreal Canadiens, which is primed for some player props.
We'll turn directly to over 3.5 shots on goal for Oliver Bjorkstrand, who has the second-most (65) shots on goal for the Kraken this season. Bjorkstrand started the season a bit slow but has turned things up recently and has gone over this mark in three of his last five games, including outings of five and nine shots on goal.
As a team, the Kraken have turned up the offensive pressure, and over the last two weeks, they are generating 66.11 Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the sixth-best in the league.
This season, the Canadiens are allowing 63.45 Shot Attempts and 31.1 actual shots on goal, both per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations. In no surprise, both of those are in the bottom 10 of the league this season, putting Bjorkstrand in a great spot tonight.
Alex Pietrangelo Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-104)
With a slate-high 3.71 implied goal total, the Vegas Golden Knights should have their offense front-and-center tonight against the St. Louis Blues.
With Shea Theodore on Injured Reserve for the Golden Knights, they were forced to switch up their first power-play unit, which allowed Alex Pietrangelo to step into a larger role.
Since Pietrangelo took that role over five games ago, he has hit over 2.5 shots on goal in three of those games. Pietrangelo is averaging 2.5 shots on goal per game this season, so it's good to see him elevating his production ever so slightly with a new role.
The matchup against the Blues should allow him to continue this trend since they are allowing 63.03 Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the ninth-worst in the league over the last two weeks.
