3 NBA Player Prop Bets for Wednesday 1/10/24

Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy basketball on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Using a wealth of statistical data, including numberFire's daily basketball projections, here are some NBA player prop bets that look appealing via the NBA odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

NBA Prop Bets

Bruce Brown Jr. Over 12.5 Points (+100)

A meeting between the Washington Wizards and Indiana Pacers should be a doozy. These teams play at the two quickest paces in the league and rank in the bottom five of defensive rating, leaving us with a juicy, slate-high 253.5 over/under.

There are some interesting player props to consider for both teams, but the big injury news for this game is that Tyrese Haliburton (hamstring) will be out, so it feels apt to target an undervalued Pacer who can succeed in Hali's absence.

Enter Bruce Brown Jr., who not only has a great matchup but also sees a significant uptick in scoring production without Haliburton.

Brown is averaging 11.7 points per game this season, but in three sans-Haliburton games, he is averaging 16.7 points.

When sharing the court with Hali, Brown is averaging 12.5 points per 36 minutes. But when Hali is on the bench, Brown is averaging 18.5 points per 36 minutes.

Tack on that Washington gives up the most points and the second-most three-point makes (3PM) to small forwards per game, and it seems Brown is primed to have a big game. He scores 53.6% of his points from behind the arc.

Hali's absence, Washington's paltry defense, and Indiana's 130.5 implied team total have me siding with the over. In 14 Pacer games that have hit or surpassed tonight's implied team total, Brown is averaging 13.7 points.

Tyrese Maxey Under 38.5 Pts + Ast (-104)

Tyrese Maxey is awesome, but I just think this combined points and assists (PA) line is set too high for tonight's game against the Atlanta Hawks.

This season, Maxey is averaging 32.5 PA, and though the Philadelphia 76ers will be without Joel Embiid (knee) and potentially De'Anthony Melton (back) tonight, this could actually hurt Maxey.

In seven Embiid-less games this season, Maxey is averaging just 29.8 PA. He's drawing more attention from opposing defenses with Embiid out.

The Sixers were without Embiid and Melton this past Saturday, which resulted in a 34.0 PA performance for Maxey. He puts up big numbers, and we can't ignore the added responsibility he will see if both these players sit, but history shows us that exceeding 38.5 PA is still a tall task.

Plus, the Hawks give up the sixth-fewest points to point guards per game. Maxey has gone up against Atlanta twice this season, and despite averaging 39.5 minutes in these contests, he was still held to 32.0 PA.

numberFire is projecting Maxey to net 35.5 PA (30.2 points and 5.3 assists) versus the Hawks. The fact that Maxey can put up a 30 burger and still fall below 38.5 PA has me interested in the under.

Stephen Curry Over 32.5 Pts + Reb (-115)

After going 0-for-9 from the three-point line on Sunday, I think Stephen Curry will have a bounce-back game tonight.

To start, Curry and the Golden State Warriors are coming off two days of rest. Curry is averaging 33.1 combined points and rebounds (PR) in contests following two-plus days of rest.

He'll go up against the New Orleans Pelicans, a team that surrenders more three-point attempts (3PA) than any other squad in the NBA. Curry leads the league in 3PA per game (11.4) and should see plenty of solid looks from downtown against the Pelicans.

The 2.0-point spread and home game also interest me. This season, Golden State has played 14 home games where the outcome was decided by single digits -- Curry is averaging 37.5 PR in that sample.

Plus, Curry has exceeded 32.5 PR in seven of his last nine games against New Orleans, including a 47.0 PR performance earlier this season.
