NBA Prop Bets
Jrue Holiday Over 5.5 Assists (+122)
Jrue Holiday is averaging just 4.8 assists per game with the Boston Celtics, which is well below his 7.3 assists per game average from last season. But a date with the Utah Jazz should have Holiday closer to last year's numbers.
The Jazz surrender more assists to point guards than any other team in the league. Starting point guards are consistently punching above their weight class against Utah in the assists stat category.
Let's take a look at the past five Jazz games and see how opposing point guards have fared. Cade Cunningham recorded 13 assists (he averages 7.5), Luka Doncic recorded 14 assists (averages 9.3), Tyler Herro recorded 6 assists (averages 4.4), C.J. McCollum recorded 6 assists (averages 5.0), and Tre Jones recorded 7 assists (averages 4.9) against Utah.
One of the main reasons Utah is sacrificial with assists is because they allow the most transition points per game. Look for Holiday to get out in front of the Jazz defense tonight. After all, he is creating more points off of assists than any other player on Boston.
Further, Holiday is averaging 8.5 potential assists per game. Utah allows the ninth-highest field-goal percentage to opponents, so we could see some of those potential assists translate to the stat sheet.
Boston has a 126.5 implied team total tonight whereas numberFire is projecting them to end with 120.84 points. In 14 games where the Celtics have scored at least 121 points, Holiday is averaging 6.1 assists. I'll side with the plus money.
Trae Young To Score 30+ Points (+100)
With a whopping 262.0 over/under and a 3.0-point spread, tonight's Indiana Pacers-Atlanta Hawks game should be a barnburner, so I'm very high on Trae Young.
Young is averaging 28.2 points per game this season and has scored 30-plus points in 11 of his last 15 games. In nine games where the Hawks have hit tonight's implied team total (129.5), Young is averaging 33.3 points.
The Pacers allow the second-most points to guards per 36 minutes.
Indiana is granting opponents the second-most free throw attempts (FTA) per game, which makes Young the most appealing Hawk. Young is averaging 8.4 FTA per game whereas the next-most on Atlanta averages just 3.1 FTA (De'Andre Hunter). There have been multiple occasions this season where Young has shot 15-plus FTA.
The Pacers also surrender the most paint points per game, which is where Young nets 28.1% of his points.
Young scored 38 points in a November matchup against the Pacers and given the matchup, his hefty role on the Hawks, and tonight's over/under, I'd be surprised if he doesn't hit the 30-point marker once again.
I'd even give Trae Young To Score 35+ Points (+250) a look.
OG Anunoby Over 18.5 Pts + Reb (-108)
OG Anunoby is averaging 19.1 combined points and rebounds (PR) this season, and in two games since being traded to the New York Knicks, he is averaging 21.0 PR (19 and 23 PR performances).
Tonight, he'll get a chance to make his mark against the Philadelphia 76ers.
The Sixers are surrendering the second-most rebounds per game to small forwards. Add in that the Knicks have a smaller lineup than Anunoby's former Toronto Raptors team, and I like his chances to outdo his rebounding average.
Anunoby nets 40.8% of his points in the paint, and the Sixers give up the 12th-most paint points per game. He's also scoring 24.3% of his points off the fast break (most on Knicks). and the Sixers give up the fifth-most fast break points per game.
In his last five games against Philadelphia (dating back to last season), Anunoby is averaging 20.2 PR per contest.
Before being sent away in the trade for Anunoby, RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley were averaging a combined 33.2 points per game for the Knicks. New York will need players to step up to fill these scoring gaps, and while Anunoby won't be the only benefactor of these new opportunities, he will be one of them.
