Scott Hazelton
Breeders' Cup Classic Pick
Classic, #3 White Abarro comes in to this Breeders’ Cup Classic fresh and arrived here at Santa Anita well in advance of this race. Last year his campaign was too much. This year he’s been well managed and has gotten the results because of it. Being here and training for close to two months at Santa Anita will pay off and he will have no problem strutting his stuff at 1 1/4 Mile in the Classic.
Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint Pick
Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint, #9 Roses for Debra will suit this 5 furlongs run in the Turf Sprint much better than the last run when she caught yielding ground in Pennsylvania. Fast ground, good speed to lay off the pace and one of the best riders of this generation, Irad Ortiz Jr., will equal a strong effort at a great price with all kinds of attention going elsewhere. She’ll be a double digit price and is more than capable.

Breeders' Cup Classic Pick
Classic, #8 USHBA TESORO. The American horses in this year's Breeders' Cup Classic leave a bit to be desired, as none of them have run particularly fast and / or enter Saturday's race with some questions in terms of form. Accordingly, the most intriguing runner in the 2023 Breeders' Cup Classic is this year's Dubai World Cup winner, USHBA TESORO (8). The Japanese-based runner has a versatile running style and has already proven himself on the world's stage, making him a viable contender in this year's Classic at Santa Anita.
Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf Pick
Juvenile Fillies Turf, #10 AUSTERE. Against a competitive group of two-year-old fillies on turf, AUSTERE (10) will almost certainly offer value, likely going off at odds north of 10/1. The Brendan Walsh trainee has run twice in her career and has been impressive both times, winning comfortably each time at two very different racetracks - Ellis Park and Kentucky Downs. With leading rider Tyler Gaffalione aboard, Austere is worth considering at a price in Friday's Juvenile Fillies Turf.

Joaquin Jaime
Breeders' Cup Classic Pick
Classic, #8 Ushba Tersoro. He’s been very sharp in his morning training at Santa Anita and has won six races in a row. I also like that he’s demonstrated a versatile running style in his last two starts. This horse received a long vacation in the summer to be fresh for this race.
Breeders' Cup Turf Pick
Turf, #9 Mostahdaf. He’s been fit & ready to race since October 21. He scratched because the ground was too soft. His best chance of getting the distance will be at Santa Anita & he will love the very firm turf course.

Breeders' Cup Classic Pick
Classic, #8 Ushba Tesoro. Riding 6-race winning streak and can out finish this field in deep stretch. Won impressively in Dubai and Japanese horses have proven they can compete on the world stage.
Breeders' Cup Sprint Pick
Sprint, #2 Dr. Schivel. Has ran big races for jockey Juan Hernandez and is capable of winning either in the lead or from off the pace. Four-time winner at Santa Anita has earned more than $1.2 million at today’s six-furlong distance.

Breeders' Cup Classic Pick
Classic, #8 Ushba Tesoro. The Dubai WC Champion has been almost unstoppable as a 6 year old since making the surface switch to the dirt. USHBA TESORO comes in with an astonishing 6 race win streak and has looked ultra impressive in the morning works since coming across and gets a nice draw from the 8 spot. Japan have had 3 previous winners at the Breeders Cup, USHBA TESORO will make it 4 as Japan runners continue to make their mark on the global stage….
Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint Pick
Turf Sprint, Caravel. A winner of this very race last year albeit at a different track Caravel returns as one of four defending champions to the BC. That win last year in the sprint was in the midst of a 5 race win streak and showed that she can handle racing with the boys. Caravel has looked strong in the last two outings despite not winning and will welcome getting back on a firm course underfoot which will allow this 6 year old to shine. The draw from the 3 post will benefit as this mare likes to be setting the tone early on the front end and given its back at the 5 furlongs Caravel should have plenty in the tank as they hit the stretch. Will go off at a shorter price than what we saw last year but expecting the same result.

Breeders' Cup Classic Pick
Classic: #3 White Abarrio. One of my favorite angles in horse racing is the improving four year old. White Abarrio is just that. His last few races indicate an upward trajectory in speed figures and his recent morning workout was fantastic. He is versatile and fast and seems to love Santa Anita.
Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint Pick
Juvenile Turf Sprint: #4 Big Evs. There were over 200 horses pre entered for the Breeders’ Cup. I have watched replays for every single competitor and the last race from this horse blew me away. He’s a phenom and lightning fast. He should love the firm turf in California and is a horse I will use in all my wagers.

Breeders' Cup Classic Pick
Classic, #3 White Abbario is looking better and better since being in the care of Rick Dutrow. He should excel at 10 furlongs and he’s primed for a career best performance.
Breeders' Cup Distaff Pick
Distaff, #8 Randomized is a tremendous filly for Chad Brown and another horse who just gets better with each and every start. Distinct possibility she hasn’t reached her true potential yet and we could see her take another step forward in the Distaff. Everyone else in there we’ve seen their best and we know what they are. She could move forward and that’s a scary thought.

Breeders' Cup Classic Pick
Classic, #3 White Abbario. With some major defections in the Classic, this race is now for the taking for White Abbario. His last race was superb beating Cody’s Wish (the defending champ in the dirt mile) and his final workout at Santa Anita was outstanding. He is sitting on a huge race.
Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf Pick
Filly & Mare Turf: Lindy #7. This is will be my price horse (12-1M/L)..She ran a game 2nd last out at Keeneland behind Mawj (BC Mile entrant) at nine furlongs. She gets to go 10 furlongs this time and that will only help with her off the pace style. She has a great late kick. Look for her to arrive late on the scene and possibly cause an upset.

Breeders' Cup Classic Pick
Classic #6 Saudi Crown. Saudi Crown should be the speed in this race, meaning he’ll break for the lead right out of the gate. He lost to champion horse Forte two races ago, but the good news for Saudi Crown? Forte is no longer running in this race.
Breeders' Cup Sprint Pick
Sprint #2 Dr. Schivel. Dr. Schivel ran in this race back in 2021, where he was just beaten at the wire. Since then, he’s been looking better than ever and is coming off a win on this same track last month in the same post position, #2.

Breeders' Cup Classic Pick
Classic, #3 White Abarrio. My top selection for the Breeders’ Cup Classic will be Rick Dutrow trainee, White Abarrio. This horse has been training exceptionally well over the course at Santa Anita, and has been reaching his highest potential this season as a 4 year old. His dominating effort in the G1 Whitney proved he is one of the top horses in the country, and I do believe with the amount of speed there is in the race, it could set up for him to have the perfect pocket trip.
Breeders' Cup Sprint Pick
Distaff #9 Clairiere. My top selection for the Breeders’ Cup Distaff will be the #9, Clairiere. I believe we can throw out her last effort in the G1 Personal Ensign; The seasoned Clairiere has run in the Breeders’ Cup Distaff twice, and has put out very game efforts in both attempts. This year, she meets a lighter field, has an age advantage over a majoirty of the group, and has been looking excellent in the mornings at Santa Anita.
