The group stage of the 2023 Women's World Cup continues on Friday with the final games of Groups D and E.

When the dust settles, we will know who is advancing to the knockout stages and who is heading home. Both groups still have everything left to play for, with tournament fates hanging in the balance.

With that in mind, let's take a look at Tuesday's slate.

Portugal vs. USA

First up on Tuesday is Group E, where Portugal, the United States, and the Netherlands still have everything left to play for.

The USA enters this fixture as -450 favorites to secure all three points against Portugal. If they win, it could come down to goal differential with the Netherlands, assuming the Orange Lionesses defeat Vietnam, to determine who wins the group and avoids a potential clash with Sweden (3rd in FIFA's Rankings) in the Round of 16. A loss and the United States would be eliminated with a victory by the Netherlands against Vietnam. The stakes are very high.

Vietnam vs. Netherlands

The Netherlands enters this fixture with one eye on advancing from the group stages and one eye on winning Group E. After their thrilling 1-1 draw with the United States last week, the Netherlands currently sit second in Group E, behind the USA by 2 on goal differential. They have the best odds to advance from Group E (-20000), but their path to winning it is less clear.

In their showdown with the United States, the Netherlands enjoyed more possession (57%) and pass accuracy (76% to 68%) but weren't able to do as much with it. They finished with fewer shots (18 to 5), shots on target (4 to 1), and corners (11 to 1). On expected goals (xG) they lost 0.3 to 0.9.

Against Vietnam, the Netherlands will need to be much better in the final third. That task will be easier in this match of course, but this Vietnam side held the United States to three goals, and the Netherlands may need to far exceed that to win Group E. The orange lionesses have just two goals from 2.0 xG so far in the tournament.

Expect an extremely attack-minded game plan from the Netherlands as they look to do everything they can to avoid a Round of 16 meeting with Sweden.

Vietnam enter this fixture as longshots (+8000) with nothing but pride to play for after being eliminated from the tournament following their 2-0 loss to Portugal last week. Making their World Cup debut, it was always going to be a tough Group for Vietnam, and it has panned out that way. Through two games, they have been outscored on xG by a combined margin of 9.5 to 0.2.

The outcome of this match is likely to be a Netherlands win, the question is by what margin?

China vs. England

Thanks to Lauren James' long-range strike, England secured a 1-0 win over Denmark on Friday and is now in the driver's seat on top of Group D. They sit three points clear of Denmark and China and have the best odds to advance from the group (-6000).

Despite that, everything remains up in the air for all four teams in Group D, with elimination and advancement still possible for each country. With a win or a draw, England are guaranteed to top Group D and set up a Round of 16 clash with Nigeria (40th in FIFA's Rankings). A loss and a Denmark win could see England finish in second place, setting up a showdown with hosts Australia (10th in FIFA's Rankings) or eliminated from the World Cup.

For China, a result in this match is their only path to advancing to the knockout stages. A win by a two-goal margin would guarantee they finish above England and could even see them win Group D if Denmark struggles against Haiti. They could also advance with a draw, but that would require Haiti to defeat Denmark, which is not something that China will be counting on. They need to come out on the front foot in this one.

Their odds of doing so are not that far off at +650. Despite winning both their matches, England's performances thus far have not been dominant. They have secured two narrow 1-0 victories, with 3.7 xG for and 1.2 xG against. Critically, they will be without star midfield Keira Walsh, who has been ruled out of this fixture after suffering a knee injury against Denmark.

Against the same opponents England faced, China managed 2.0 xG for and 1.9 xG against. As it stands they have the third-best odds to advance from Group D (+600).

If England grabs an early lead, this could wind up being a stress-free contest for them. If China scores first, suddenly England are one goal away from possible elimination. Until that first goal goes in, this match will sit on a knife's edge.

Haiti vs. Denmark

Denmark enters this fixture with the second-best odds to advance from Group D (-650). After their narrow 1-0 loss to England, they sit in second in Group D, tied with China on both points (3) and goal differential (0). The difference is, China has to play England, while Denmark gets to face a Haiti side ranked 53rd in FIFA's Rankings.

Denmark enters this fixture as a large favorite (-380). There are numerous scenarios in play for them to advance to the knockout stages, but their only path to winning Group D starts with a win over Haiti by a margin of at least two goals. That result, combined with a one-goal victory by China over England, would see them finish the group stages on top of Group D. Expect Denmark to do everything they can to improve their goal differential in this contest.

To this point, they have managed 1.6 xG for and 1.5 xG against. A match up with Haiti will be their easiest fixture so far and provides them with a chance to gather some positive momentum heading into the knockout stages.

After consecutive losses to start their campaign, Haiti's World Cup dreams are still technically alive, but they have the worst odds to advance from Group D (+1600). Their path to doing so is simple, they need to defeat Denmark and have China lose to England to pull into a three-way tie for second place. From there, goal differential, head-to-head record, and fair-play points (determined by a team's yellow and red cards) all come into play.

Considering who they have faced, Haiti's two 1-0 losses are respectable outcomes in their World Cup debut. So far, they have a combined 1.5 xG for and 4.2 xG against. They are underdogs in this clash, but they have shown the ability to make things difficult for their opponents thus far. An early goal for Haiti in this one could set the stage for an absolutely wild finish in Group D.
