WNBA Finals Today: Props and Predictions for Game 4
Atlanta Dream -4.5 (-118)
Golden State won all three regular-season meetings with Atlanta and then took Game 1, but the balance of power has shifted dramatically over the past two games.
Atlanta has won Games 2 and 3 by 14 and 26 points, respectively, outscoring Golden State 176-136 across those two contests. The Dream's defense has been a major part of that turnaround.
Golden State shot only 34.8% from the field in Game 3 and committed 17 turnovers, which Atlanta converted into 22 points. The Dream shot 49.0% themselves and owned a massive 44-20 advantage in points in the paint.
Those issues weren't isolated to Game 3. Atlanta also generated 24 points off turnovers in Game 2, and Golden State has now committed 36 turnovers over the past two games.
The Dream have also taken over after halftime. Through three Finals games, Atlanta has outscored Golden State 63-35 in the third quarter. That ability to turn competitive games into comfortable leads was on display Wednesday, when the score was tied at 49 before Atlanta took control and eventually won by 26.
Golden State hasn't topped 71 points in any game this series, while Atlanta finally broke through offensively with 97 points in Game 3. With the Dream's pressure defense creating transition opportunities and their offense getting contributions throughout the rotation, laying 4.5 points at home is appealing.
Jordin Canada Over 7.5 Assists (+122)
Jordin Canada has been one of the league's most productive distributors during Atlanta's postseason run, and getting plus money on her to reach eight assists is worth targeting.
Canada is averaging 8.6 assists across eight postseason games, up significantly from her already-strong regular-season average of 7.3 per game. She's dished out eight-plus assists in six of her eight playoff appearances.
The Finals matchup hasn't slowed her down much, either. Canada recorded seven assists in Game 1 before handing out 10 in Game 2 and eight in Game 3. That gives her 25 assists through the first three games of the series, an average of 8.3 per contest.
Canada also continues to handle a sizable workload. She has played at least 33 minutes in every Finals game, including 38 minutes in Game 1 and 36 in Game 2. With Atlanta increasingly finding success around the basket and generating quality looks for Angel Reese, Rhyne Howard, and the rest of its supporting cast, Canada should continue to have plenty of assist opportunities.
She needs eight assists to cash this prop, a number she's reached in six of eight playoff games and in each of Atlanta's two wins in this series. At +118, the combination of role, postseason production, and odds makes Canada's assist over my preferred player prop for Game 4.
WNBA Betting -- Frequently Asked Questions
What does the point spread mean in WNBA betting?
The point spread is a margin set by oddsmakers to level the playing field between two unevenly matched teams. For example, if the Dallas Wings are listed at -7.5, they need to win by 8 or more points for a bet on them to cash. Conversely, a bet on their opponent at +7.5 wins if that team loses by 7 or fewer points — or wins outright.
What is the moneyline?
The moneyline is a straight-up bet on which team wins the game, with no spread involved. Favorites carry a negative number (e.g., -200, meaning you must risk $200 to win $100), while underdogs carry a positive number (e.g., +170, meaning a $100 bet returns $170 profit).
How does the over/under (game total) work?
Oddsmakers set a projected combined score for the game, and bettors wager on whether the actual total will go over or under that number. For instance, if the total is set at 154.5 points, an over bet wins if both teams combine for 155 or more points. WNBA totals can swing based on pace of play, rest situations, and injuries, so it's worth tracking those factors before placing a total bet.
What are WNBA player props?
Player props are bets tied to an individual player's statistical performance rather than the game's outcome. Common prop bet markets include points scored, assists, rebounds, three-pointers made, and combinations of those stats.
