Warriors vs. Lakers Game 1 Analysis

The Warriors have the edge for Game 1 of the series according to numberFire’s win probability model, which grants them a 70.2% chance of beating the Lakers tonight.

Curry’s average of 33.7 points per game ranks third among all players in the playoffs so far, while Kevon Looney’s 15.1 boards per game are the most. The Warriors were 1-1 in matchups with the Lakers with Curry active but were 1-3 in the overall series.

The Lakers are 1-1 in two games against the Warriors with both James and Davis active.

The Lakers will provide a unique challenge for the Warriors, who have relied on Looney to sustain drives with his rebounding; no team has averaged more rebounds per game than the Lakers (49.7) so far in the playoffs. Even with James and Davis healthy and active, they’ll need a plan to stop Curry and Thompson from beyond the arc after allowing opposing teams to post a 38.9% 3-pointer rate during the regular season.
