Tampa Bay Buccaneers Draft Pittsburgh DT Calijah Kancey 19th Overall

Calijah Kancey, stud defensive tackle from Pittsburgh, is now a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after the team selected him 19th overall in the 2023 NFL Draft.

According to the NFL Draft betting odds at FanDuel Sportsbook, Kancey had -450 odds to be a first-round pick early on Thursday, and he broke into the top 20.

Kancey scored the top athleticism metric by Next Gen Stats' draft model among the defensive tackle class this year.

Along with that comes a lot of size concerns.

Despite the size, via PFF, Kancey ranked top-12 in sacks (8), hits (9), hurries (30), and other pass-rush wins (15) in the nation among interior defenders.

The Bucs were a top-10 defense in 2022 based on numberFire's expected points model. They were 14th against the pass and 7th against the rush.

Kancey and Tevita Vea should cause lots of problems for opposing lines this season.

The Buccaneers' regular season win total number is set at 6.5 with -132 odds on the over, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.

They're only +310 (or around 24%) to make the playoffs. Their Super Bowl odds are +7500, better than only four other franchises.
