Scottish Lassie Scratched From 2026 Breeders’ Cup Distaff

Breeders’ Cup announced Wednesday that Scottish Lassie has been scratched from the 2026 Breeders’ Cup Distaff. No reason was given.

It is the second year in a row the filly has come out of the race. She was scratched from the 2025 Distaff at Del Mar two days before the race, having drawn post 5 at 12-1.

With no also-eligibles drawn for the Distaff, no horse moves into her spot. The field drops from nine to eight.

Scottish Lassie, a 4-year-old filly by McKinzie, had drawn post 5 at 15-1 for trainer Jorge Abreu, with Luis Saez named to ride. She won the Frizette and the Coaching Club American Oaks and finished second to Fully Subscribed in both the Shuvee and the Personal Ensign this year.

The Breeders’ Cup Distaff is Race 10 on Saturday, Oct. 31, at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Kentucky, with an approximate post time of 4:58 p.m. ET.
